My new £900 PH1 172 - running - Yes, another bargain!

As a few know, I have nearly finished my Ph2 go-kart/track toy & have been looking for a Ph1 172 as a general run around, so was planning to pay around £1,500 but the majority of you guys said you wouldnt get a runner for that money... well here we have it, i belive a true diamond in the ruff! £900, HPI clear, MOT till april next year, Cambelt done at 76k - now on 90k ( just run-in milage from what i saw at the RR ) & i belive a rare one as its in iceburg silver body work is sweet as all round

So as you can see, its a erm.. a touch tatty & the clutch is WELL FOOKED! but since i have my PH2 to drive around in i have as much time as i like to fix it up .. so the plan will be to get a new clutch fitted & get some standard alloys & rear lights! & some lowering springs & a cupra splitter would be nice but i've already spent enough time/money doing up my PH2 - http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=340164

So picked it up yesterday & havent had much time to start work but as you can see in the first pic ( wing mirror on the floor ) i sourced a complete wing mirror unit for £20 from the scrappy, thanks couz, even though you gave me the wrong post code lol

So hopefully within the Next 4-6 weeks It will be back to forma glory

If any ones got a set of standard 172 wheels or if your interested in the lexus lights/alloys let me know!

Very happy for the money mate .... but untill its stripped down & can have a good look around we will see... pannels will all be off tomorrow, then prep for gearbox removal.. can see that being a fun job :dapprove: .. Ben_p's guide looks very good though, handy i dont actually needed it to get around so i really have as long as i need to work on it

yer i done a clutch on a ph2 172 a while back, wasnt to bad as obviosly i hav a ramp at work, wouldnt like 2 do it on the floor though as ya gota drop the subframe.

i would do the krank seal at the same time behind the flywheel whilst ya there.

Well today involved pulling it to bits to inspect the bargain, well i was expecting alot to be shite but to my surpise its all pretty good ..

So the best find of today, Dont think the clutch has nout wrong with it .. Turned out to be the upper engine mount that was causing the nasty feeling when pulling away! so i could of replaced it but being as i'm keeping costs down, i just moved it lol.. will sort a new one when i order goodies from reno!

Had a look at the head unit wiring after the previous owner attempted some thing....

What the f**k am i going to do with that!

And another mission, the electric window wasnt working, fook knows how to sort that mess out

Well lights came off & done a few other bits & bobs but called it a day about 6ish.. parked it up with the family lol

Still deciding between PH1 172 wheels or the 15" dynamique ( 172 style ) wheels like my old lil 1.2 in the pic, what do you guys think?

So few questions guys, any one got part no. & prices for PH1 172

* Throttle cable
* Clutch cable
* TB gasket
* Upper engine mount

????

If you're having 15's then has to be the F1's, the dynamic wheels would just look odd IMO.

I now know why people prefer the drive of the Ph1 one, the feel ( in standard form ) is much better on the Ph1 ones than the PH2's... tempted for coillys..... must.. not... spend money... on the run around lol

bargain, theres a company on ebay that sell ph1 cup alloys for £250 brand new!... surely theres loads of ph2 rear lights available for peanuts..
After going for that drive in your ph2 I was impressed but wouldnt want to use it as a daily driver, I can fully appreciate you going for a run around!
I'll have to do the same when I graduate next year, bollucks to parking my 182 on site!!
