My new 172

  S1 16v 106 Rallye
Never thought i'd be back after having a mk1 ph1 1.4 clio as my first car. 2 years and 5 cars later.. I bought a 172 :) wasn't cheap on the insurance at 19, but not stupid either. Just need to sort the damn radio out. It's code locked :( it's totally standard (appart from the rear tinted window which i've now removed the film from - pic of rear was before i removed the tint), 79k on the clock, 1 previous owner and it's the 2000 ph1 :) pics:

What's the RS bumper mate?

Yeah I know it's a PH2 bumper, I meant the 172 PH2 bumper sorry.

It's not completely mint. Has a few scrapes to the one side of the front bumper and a dent in the passenger side rear quater. Sending it down the bodyshop after payday though so should be fine then :)

Also after a PH2 backbox, decat, front and rear braces and some bits and pieces for now. Will eventually get round to suspension and wheels (probably keep the wheels and maybe get them powdercoated a darker silver or maybe a gun metal gray).

Cheers for the comments all.

Ahh. Yeah. Know anyone selling an RS PH2 172 bumper? What does the PH1 RS bumper look like?

Not so much rear end - the rear left corner of the car. Good size dent in the rear 1/4 and the bumpers obviously been replaced. The boot floor is fine although on the one corner where the impact was the hangers for the bumper clips are slightly bent back, so i'll have to get that sorted. It's actually registered as a Cat D, but for £1,500 I couldn't complain considering other than that the car is mint, and only has 79k on the clock and 1 previous owner :) - i'm not going to throw loads at it obviously because it'll be worth less when I come to sell it on in a year or so anyway, but it's going to be sprinted occasionally anyway :)

On the radio front, phone up the Renault Dealer it was originally sold from and they should be able to give you the code. That's what I did with mine.

I don't have any manuals or anything so have no idea which the original dealer was :/ is there any way for me to find out?

Rang them on saturday Sean and they wanted £15! Decided i'll just go get a CD player instead. The bloke told me his name and asked me to ask for him when I go down. I asked if the £15 included VAt and he said yes. My bet is that they just go find the code then pocket the cash.

Matt I paid £1.5k because it's a cat d :) still, a lot of car for 1.5k - especially with only 1 previous owner and only 79k on the clock. Been quoted around £300 to get the rear quater sorted, so once that's done it'll be sweet as a nut :)

Yeah... why "oh dear"?

That's a cracking price! Cat D or not. I've seen more expensive Cat C's

I'd have it for that money!

Nice buy fella.

Cheers mate :) everyone i've spoke to has said the same. The bloke had 83 watchers on it on ebay 3 days before auction end and had already reached 1.2k (reserve as 1.5) but he took my 1.5 offer for a quick sale. Fully inspected the car. Only panel damage :)

1500 thats alot of car for little money, cat d is nothing at all to worry about. cat c i would never touch though. i need to find one of these nice cat d bargains myself.

Why oh dear?
its alot... for a cat d imo, im sure there are ones much lower priced, its better to stretch that lil bit further for one that in uncategorized, however, budget depends on individual circumstances, it is your car and if your happy with it then thats whats important.

Lol are you kidding me? At 79k with 1 previous owner you're lucky to find one unregistered for less than 3k. You'd still struggle to get a cat c for 1.5k with that mileage, even at the current market. Feel free to try and show me one though.

he got a good deal end of. why your trying to proove otherwise by showing cars a grand more expensive i dont know. maybe im missing somthing????

why does my opinion of it being alot concern you? if you feel he got a good deal then give him his props, no need to comment on what i feel, not everyone will conform.
