My new Clio 172 replica

Hey guys new here and I've just turned 18 so thought I'd treat myself to a new car, it's a 172 replica, with a 1.6 engine, lowered 60mm. It's supposedly been cammed and mapped and running a 142bhp with dyno sheet to prove it. Whether it's true or not I don't know but it certainly feels like it! Anyway here's some pics after a detail:

Looks nice (apart from the black bits) I would even go as far as saying I don't find the wheels offensive :)

Nice little car, at 18 I was driving a Mk4 1.3 Escort lol

Haha cheers mate, yeah the black is a bit marmite. I'll be looking to get some new wheels soon was thinking about bbs rs' but all depends which route I decide to take the car ha.

good car for being 18 mate, only thing im not to keen on is the black on the bonnet/bumper, got any other plans for it apart from the bbs rs's like you said above?

I quite like the black on the bumper not on the bonnet though... But maybe it wouldn't look right without the bonnet done as well... But looks a nice car!!

Thanks for the comments guys! Not a lot of plans atm, just tidying it up. Get the engine bay looking nice, new exhaust system and a set of wheels at some point. Anyone know the guys username that owned it before me? or could link me to the project thread.

Cheers!

And custom paint and cams and remap and exhaust and lowered...

Who would tell there insurance about cams and a remap?.. lol Sorry insurance screw me over enough at my age. I'm not going to willingly tell them about something they can't see.

/spam.

This isn't going to end well, Cliosport is quite a "proper" owners club. You don't fiddle your income tax or claim benefits just because you think it's unfair that you can't afford to own something. I understand the cams/map can't be seen, but no doubt the paint/sport bodykit/suspension/spoiler etc would have made the premium rocket.

Car looks very well done & very clean though! Even if you're in the "hate it" camp the black isn't too bad when you consider how well the wheels are matched. Also really like the fact that it'll stand out from the other 43,567 reps. I know you've just been given a printout, but the RR figure sounds a bit optimistic, has there been any more engine work done?

Not to my taste. Scares me to think what your insurance must be like with those level of modifications!

It's only alloys and an exhaust :rasp:

^The above was a joke, jesus.

Everything is declared bar the paint, cams and remap. I wasn't sure I had to declare the paint, I myself don't even know if the cams and map have been done it's what I've been told. So I'm not going to start declaring mods if I don't even know if they are there.

Thanks, well the previous owner made a project thread on here I'm told but not sure what his username is. Would be good to see what's all been done!

It is advise to save you if you have an accident - if you don't know it has those mods then take it somewhere to find out, do you really think that if you have an accident the insurance company will say its fine and will pay out to fix the other car/wall/lamppost because you thought the mods were probably not fitted?

Bottom line is, if its not declaired, then your not insured and there was no point in declairing the bodywork modifications.

As said mate, nothing meant in any form of nastyness (its hard to say things over a forum without them being taken the wrong way) so take it to a specialist, get it checked and if doesnt have a cam and map then brilliant, but if it does then declaire it.

On another note, i dont like the wheels, but i strangely like the paintwork, i think once you have changed a few bits it will look fantastic ;)

Just out of interest, after declaring the mods and with your age... what are you paying on insurance? And what company are you with? because im paying sh*tloads for mine and ive only told them about the coilovers, havnt even mentioned the wheels yet! PS, im 19, so barely older then you

So you are driving a car on which you are a named driver with un-declared mods? First thing you should do if you have a crash is buy the biggest tub of KY jelly you can find.

Looks decent, not a fan of the paint or the wheels.

Ever paid a thought to the poor b*****d you run into who then cant claime on your insurance because its void? I cant tell if you are saying it tongue in cheek, and you do actually care, or if you actually think its ok to not be insured

as said (back on topic) i like the red and black, definately different

I'm perfectly legal to drive the car. The mods you see are declared it's only the f**king map and cams that aren't they aren't going to know. Do you declare your're clio sport stickers as exterior decorative changes? wouldn't surprise me LOL.

quite right buddy ive spent the last 7 years modding my clios and never declair a thing, the money i save over all the clowns who declair mods gives me more money to buy more mods.

Ok the remap and cams I can see, because you don't know if they are there or not, but as Russ said, you haven't declares the bodywork changes (sport body kit etc)

Also you say you are a names driver, so are you the main driver or is the policy holder the main driver? As if you are the main driver then it is 'fronting' which is better known as insurance fraud.
