My next Clio: 1.6 or dci 100?

  MK3 Sport Tourer TCE
Getting rid of the 1.2 Expression at last, and am looking at getting either a 1.6 or DCI 100 for a bit more oomph on the A roads and motorways.

Anyone have an opinion on the advantages/disadvantages of the diesel models?

I've not driven either so any info would be most helpful cheers ;)

A remapped 100 DCI will wipe the floor with a 1.6 16v and give a lot more miles to the tank, but they are more expensive too!

From what I've been able to find on the net, a DCI 100 Dynamique is Insurance group 5 and a 1.6 Dynamique is insurance group 10, is this right? Might swing it if true!

Diesel for motorway - Petrol for A roads

Depends who's paying for the uel I'd take the dci all the time regardless as there not that quick anyway either of them.

I'd go for the 80 though as I hate the 100 gearbox.

Advangate of the dci is £35 road fund.
50mpg on long hard driven roads
37mpg at 110~115mph
70mpg if your careful

Cheap to service realy and run. No coil packs or spark plugs to fail (which is common on petrols)

Have a look at parkers Clio here 1.6 16V Dynamique is 8, most of the DCI's are 5 apart from mine which is 10 ffs.

How come out of interest? Not a standard 80 or something?

<------- Think my opinion on this is obvious. Petrol power for the win.

Bmh dunno mate its got the climate control and xenons if they make a difference? Can't think of anything else at all.

We should meet up aswell topman

Hmm wierd one, can't see it making a difference but whos know with insurance companies daylight robbery comes to mind :dapprove:.

Yeh meet sounds good, drop me a pm can sort it out :D.

  Lots of Alfas
As Edde says Id get the dci80. The dci100 is good and is 6 speed but has the dreaded (PK6?) gearbox.

  CB600FS
Not 6 speed Dave its the shitty 5 speed out the 1.6/1.8 Lag2's. JR5.

PK6s aren't that bad considering the amount of them on the road.

I swore they had the 6 speed as they had a completly different gear nob. Ive driven a nearly new Renault trafic with that box and its as smooth as a Sherman tank. My old mans Vivaro (same as trafic) lasted 55k.

  CB600FS
Nar thats PK6 in the trafic, the DCI100s 5 speed with reverse down and right. Not a round town type box if that makes sense, just likes cruising in 5th

  Clio Dci100 Dynamique
Yeah the dci 100 is 5 speed, its the new bulker 106bhp one that has 6 but you don't want that lol

Go for the diesel 100 and a decent remap imo, its faster, cheaper to run, tax and insure, mine eats 106 gti / 1.6 petrol clios for breakfast - 130bhp 190lbs per ft
