also wat are the benefits.

how about if i get any flexable pipe and link it to the omp intake will that be ok?

wheres the best place to get such a pipe?

please help - my OMP filter has not giving me any problems, also it sounds great but just want to make improvements

so will any pipe do? iv got an old vacum cleaner wid a pipe, will that pipe do if i cut it

What a post! Now THAT was a funny read!

If I were you I would leave the vacuum hose where it is, I'm sure someone will come along soon and direct you towards an intake pipe seller!

I think there are two commonly used places you could duct some cooler air from, the wheel arch and the lower grille.

I can't see a problem with using any old piping to duct the air unless it's going to be touching something hot - and that would sort of defeat the object. Though I've heard that air conditioning pipe works well for this sort of thing. Anything convoluted should work to negotiate any tight bends.

Lets face it, if the vacuum cleaner pipe melts or doesn't provide enough air (you could use two side by side), you haven't lost anything.

I am basing this advice on the basis that you are not now going to destroy your mum's brand spanking new vacuum cleaner.

Yep, your filterset-up is not doing you good because it's receiving hot air form the radiator. But i also think this filterhouse will not let you connect a CAF to it by the looks of the construction of it/the front.

Really good gains are made with very cheap options ; a 172 phase 1 airbox with two 70mm cafs routed the original route down towards the wheelarch (best take out all original crap-CAF and best also the acoustic-valve to make space for the 70mm cafs)

Second cheap option is a Espave V6 model '98 airbox , this has one giant CAF-entrance of 100mm where you can lead a 100mm CAF to. Point this towards headlight because its too fat to route all the way down like the original ones sit.

Check ebay for "caf ducting" , Venair CAF ducting.

Here's an example of my setup, but this took some breaking way of engine-parts so maybe not good for everyone. (this is a V6 airbox)

It's simple, just try to avoid warm enginebay areas when routing the caf..
-and also ; best is when having a nice filter setup that you feel sure about (getting good cool air) is to MAP the car's ecu to suit the better breathing !
