need some 172 cup honesty

  172 cup

most the faults on my 182 have been on things that the 172 cup doesnt have, so the 172 cup is the most relaible of the lot IMO due to having less to go wrong.

depends what you're used to I guess, but feel quick?! they are pretty quick its not just a feeling lol, will see 60 in 6.5secs which is pretty quick, the 80Kg weight difference is significant regardless of what people say, no doubt about it on my mind, simple fact of power to weight ratios.

All the RS clios are great to drive, will surprise a lot of more expensive cars and put a massive grin on your face. Also quick enough to get you into trouble.

They are so so fun to drive, and there isn't anything that comes that close to the smile it puts on your face, not near that price bracket!

Reliabilty wise mine was really fine, altough I did have a new gear box put in under warranty, at about 28k.

Drive one, and drive it hard, you won't regret getting one!

(un!)reliable as any other Clio really, but less electrics to go wrong which is always a bonus and apparently certain engine jobs are easier due to lack of aircon.

From my experience a Clio is as bad as you want it to be, especially one under warranty. Many people will have theirs in 10-15 times a year sorting out dash rattles, creaks etc, whilst others could have the exact same car and never take it in. Depends how picky you are, remember its a very cheap french car that will accelerate at silly speeds and handle as well as most things, anything else is a bonus.

Sure some do have major problems and thats fair enough, but most survive a good hammering without too much hassle.

Get a cup :) - I must admit i did get one with climate though, fancied a bit of that!
had mine since last september, only problem i have had (touch wood) was the corroded rear discs which where changed under warranty (due to being low mileage)

I absolutely love the car, goes like a rocket & IMO looks gert lush.
Theres nothing else i'd swap it in for at the moment (within reason!)

I'm sure you wouldn't regret buying one, it's alway a pleasure to drive, even my mrs offers to pick me up from the pub if she can drive it... must be good lol

But as said above, drive one & see what you think.

Had my 52 plate 172 Cup for 9 months and so far (touch wood) nothing has gone wrong, its now done 29K and gets better and better to drive. I live near some fantastic roads and every Sunday I give it a blast to Brecon and back with my son. He loves it. Ok it doesn't have half the toys the other RS's have but for me its about the driving and nothing else. I hardly ever even put the CD on I just want to hear it ! It's definitely a drivers car, if you like driving then its the Clio for you (if you can't afford a Trophy or V6 !) - go for it you won't regret it

It's not just me then! Haven't had a CD in my car for about 6 months now, never have I enjoyed driving in silence (from a radio/music perspective) so much.

had my 03 plate cup from new and have had no major problems.
Grin per £ cannot be beaten.
Its now on 28k and tho ive thought about selling her in the past i cant bring myself to do it.
Now with the coilovers on i dont think i will be thinking of selling her any time soon.
It just gets better
I cant drive without music.....the rattles annoy me to much lol

61K since new on a 53 plate, very little in the way of problems, goes like absolute f**king s**t off a shovel.

As above, I tend not to listen to anything except the engine/exhaust/tyres when driving...can't get enough of it.

I still, after all this time and mileage, take it out for a 2hr blast across the South Downs on a Sunday afternoon just for the hell of it, if my Mrs takes my daughter round a friends house that is.

I'm ALWAYS making excuses to go for a little blast :D

  Cup 172
Had mine for nearly two years. Plenty of little niggles, but nothing that actually stops it.

It is just so much fun. The harder you drive it, the better it goes.

On a B road it can live with just about anythign regardless of price.
