Guess il start a the beginning then. Bought it from a nice chap in Croydon just over a year and a half ago. I knew he had used it on track a couple of times, it had some black alloys and a CAF but he put it all back to standard bar the acoustic valve. Was the first Clio i had looked at and fell in love with it straight away, didnt test drive it as i had gone out the night before and ended up chucking up on myself :dead:, so i left it in the capable hands of my dad to tell me what it was like even though he didn't take it over 4000rpm. A deal was done the same day and 3 days later it was mine.

One day when V-Power was cheep i was out for a quick drive, following a DB7 i put my foot down to catch up and my car decided it wanted to blow a hole in the CAT just were it joins on to the centre section of the exhaust. After 2 months of me and my mate trying to find out what the high pitched whistle was we found it to be the CAT/exhaust hole so it was down to Ktec for there ultra performance system without the centre silencer and 2 weeks later back down for there sport CAT.

After spending some monies on colour coded bullets, tow eye and a 3/4 plate the car looked like this

Then i got the turini bug and decided i needed some in white, so a 4 hour trip up to Lincoln later i had a set thanks to whiteley. The tyres that were on there were not good as i found out one night on a roundabout. They were refurbished by the Wheel Specialist in Fareham and were on the car for all of about 3 weeks.

Around this time i got a PM from Tim (atouba) about autocar wanting a standard 182 cup to be featured in there magazine.http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=474859
I emailed matt saying i was free whenever and would be more than happy too help. So with after one cancled day because of the snow we all had, me and the old man set off for Bruntingthorpe :D. I did a quick write up on the day in the post. And after what seemed like an eternity the feature was finally in the mags 'Half-Priced Heros' special.

Over the past week after work iv been treating the engine to a bit of love and attention, with quite alot inspiration from -J- i have been polishing the inlets (still need a bit of sanding and polishing) and painted the top of the manifold, got hold of a carbon cover from ktec and a 16v 2.0L sticker from Ady182 and have just fitted it, up next for the bay is a CDA carbon airbox as the original is falling apart and is just sat in there without any fixings holding it down (don't know were they escaped to).

So that's it for now, I know this seems more like a write up on what iv done to the car so far but trust me it will get updated when there's something new to show. The plan for it is for me to still use it as a day to day car but to also use it on track, im going to be booking the renaultsport track day at Silverstone soon for the 4th of august and have already spoken to a few people on what to expect from the day and im quite excited about it. I hope to have at least 2 days under my belt by the end of the year. And if my mate sorts his stag weekend out we hopefully will be going to the nurburgring next year.

Re: destined for the track

The CDA carbon airbox arrived today thanks to madness88 and i have just fitted it, it certainly sounds alot better the annoying drone from the cat has now been replaced with a nice grrrrrrrrrrrr sound :). Unsure whether to keep it though because i did notice a small drop in power but only very slightly, it seems to take longer to get higher up into the rev range. Will keep it on there for the rest of the week and see what is what. Had to chop the samco hose about abit so would need to replace that aswell if it went back too standard. In the pics has not got a air feed to it but it does now.

Re: destined for the track

Well with the gearbox fudged i thought it was game over for the car and me, but after a stern talking to by all the mechanics on here iv decided to give fixing it ago with the help of a garage and and my mate. With not going all the way and taking the engine out on the drive and doing it there, me and a mate have for a couple of hours last weekend and this one have attacked the car and got it to the stage now where only the A/C has got to be taken care of (would do it on the drive but my neighbours are just the sort of people who would phone up the environment agency and complain) and the mounts then it can be taken out by the garage (which my mate works at) and fit the gearbox i have coming thanks to JAM-sport. On another note i would like to thank mark and matt at JAM-sport for everything they have done for me over the past couple of months, cheers guys.

Not bad for 4 hours work and only using 4 tools!

The gearbox has arrived along with the discs from JAM-Sport :) hoping to get it all fitted and back on the road by the middle of November.

Gearbox, with a few pots of nuts, bolts and screws from the car. probably should have sorted them a bit better :S

As you've already pointed out, the service from Jam-Sport is second to none tbh! Always seem happy to take the time to help/answer queries etc!

Wilwoods look good in red! Did you opt for the 2500 pads?

Good to see you're fixing it! :)

yea mark said the 25000's are better for the road with lasting abit longer, how are u finding the dust from them ? cant wait to see what there gonna be like with the white turinis LOL

having not fitted them yet i dont really know, have been out in matt wills trophy with the same set-up and that was bloody amazing. Only herd good things about them form Oliver, Matt and a few others.

On a different note, TBH i don't know why everyone slates 4pots on clios surely braking better in any car is better? And for the initial payout i truly think there quite cost affective, replacing the pads only requires the removal of the pins on top of the callipers then take out the pads and drop in the new.

Re: destined for the track

Dust isn't too bad at all tbh; I try and get it off every week or so, but it's by no means excessive! :)

Having said that, I do have anthracite wheels, you may have more fun with your white ones! :rasp:

The car was towed up the road to the garage last Saturday morning. Had to clear a bit of the garage which inclueds an Escort MK2 that is having a turbo'd V6 putting in it :D and a mini race car that we picked up and moved. Pictures from my mates phone.

Then got it back yesterday with the new gearbox fitted, air con re-gassed and a new clutch. Mate came round today with his tools and set about putting everything back together, funny how everything goes back quicker than it came apart. We started it up on a battery pack and all was good, no engine lights thankfully although were were left with 2 plugs not in and not knowing where they go, there just below the passengers headlight. Possibly to do with the acoustic valve not sure ?

Re: destined for the track

SHE'S BACK !!!

Well last Saturday/Sunday we put everything back together filled her up with coolant and started her up. It ran perfectly all week and all is good :) Yesterday we cracked on with the brakes as last week was too wet and cold. But as things are never easy, we came up against a brick wall. The passenger side locking wheel nut had given up and was very much rounded off. Tryed for about 15 minuets to get it off with the key but it wasn't having none of it so the only option was to drill and grind it off with a dremel. The wheel isnt too badly damaged but you can only go so far with the disk cutter so out came the chisels.

5194068453_4bb3516158_z.jpg

5194069885_d1b7d04243_z.jpg

Well it finnaly came off after 45 mins with the drill, dremel and chisels.

5194670720_2a2b284c17_z.jpg

Sadly my mate chipped the paint right off of the passenger side calliper :(

5194673290_9535d7b2c0_z.jpg

We then set about bleeding the brakes and refitting my white turinis with just 3 bolts on each side :S need to get a new set of locking ones pronto. After everything was back on and a little test drive up the road and back i gave it a well deserved wash. Then this morning i took a trip up to goodwood for some pics before winter sets in.

Plans are now to finish off the interior, need a carbon gear knob insert, new wheel and some recaro pole positions i reckon. Will be attending the Surrey rolling road meet in Jan to see what power its putting out, will see if i can beet the 195bhp I got at Regal LOL. Again a massive thanks to my mate, mercury garage and everyone at JAM-sport.
