Re: destined for the track

^ Couldn't agree more, safety specs are cheap enough too!

Nice car, it appears you have a wheel bolt missing in the last pic though!

Re: destined for the track

Not really an updated but a review of the 4pots. And pics from today

Well the brakes are truly amazing, If im totally honest i didn't expect to see a massive dereference over the setup i already had (Brembo max discs, Ferodo DS2500 pads and Ktec lines) but there is and the dereference is HUGE. Just normal driving around town you can notice it you literally have to just rest your foot on the pedal and u quickly come to a halt. Using them properly on a fast B-road is were the dereference becomes apparent, From the very instant you touch the pedal it starts to slow down rapidly, if you put your foot down harder after that you Stop. On cold mornings the brakes are a bit shy but after a few miles the heat has got in to them there amazing. Honestly one of the best things iv ever bought for the car. Again thanks to matt and mark at JAM-Sport for sorting everything.

Little update but mainly a chance for some w*****g. Got a tow eye again, also waiting for the carbon gear insert and the interior will be complete apart from the seats.

Re: destined for the track

It's a lovely looking RB, however, I'm not fond of the front splitter. IMO a standard Renault or a Carbon Fibre one would look better. I noticed you had a standard splitter at the beginning of the thread and no write up as to what happended to it or why you replaced it. Just IMO of course.

Re: destined for the track

LOL One of your type decided it wanted to walk out in front of my car and it snapped clean in half. Went to the scrappy saw a laguna and got it for free so cant complain. Most think it looks poo but i really like it so it stays. Might go if it gets lowered its quite tall and scrubs on quite bumpy roads and speed bumps at the moment so we will see.

Re: destined for the track

Yet another weekend fixing something on the car  This time the Passenger headlight just decided it was going to break ! Don't have a clue how its happened but what ever holds the inside of the headlight together gave up and broke, resulting in getting a replacement from Tim (atouba), cheers mate. Anyway whipped the bumper off today and replaced it only to find one of the bulbs also had blown aswell.

This is the hole on the back, where one of the fixing points for inside the headlight was. You can see its cracked the plastic up toward the top.

Looking forward to Surrey Rolling Road at the end of the month. It will be good to see how much BHP its putting out, the last time it was on some rollers it made 195.6 at Regal. Bit optimistic if you ask me, seeing as its only had a k-tec exhaust. Not too fused with what it makes TBH but will be nice to see what the guys at SRR make of it.

Also thinking of getting the wheels sprayed anthracite as the winter has killed the white ones and im getting tired of cleaning them every week.

Re: destined for the track

Cars looking awesome now mate, loving the red brakes under the white wheels (like my old set up but with the standard calipers) the CC'd bullets I bought off you really looked the biz on my old RB :(

Re: destined for the track

Had a great day at Surrey Rolling Road. Made 180.8bhp and 150.9lbft, chuffed with the results. More accurate than the 195bhp I got at Regal a couple of years ago. TBH don't really plan on doing anything to the engine, unless I come into a fair bit of money and then will get throttle bodies. But that's a long way off yet.

What is that 180 giving you at the wheels out of interest? Did you get that figure?

Re: destined for the track

Ah ok im aiming at doing a track day trophy race once they post the calendar

Class A 176 - 200bhp/ton
Class B 151 - 175 bhp/ton
Class C 126 - 150 bhp/ton
Class D up to 125 bhp/ton

So intially I want to aim for class B then and try and get as near 175 as possible.

Re: destined for the track

Have decided id had enough of cleaning the turinis now, so got a Michelin pilot sport from camskill at a good price and then fitted yesterday for a pint of beer. Put the original cup alloys back on today after a good clean and sold the turinis. Think they will stay on for the foreseeable future until i get hold of some 2118's. The draw of cheep tyres is too much.

Also got some RS matts from the group buy. Now all i need is for someone to sell me his seats ;) and the interior is complete.

Re: destined for the track

You know what I think I prefer it with the standard wheels you have on now in comparison to the turinis! As you said get some recaros and that'll be lovely, oh other than that 90's style front splitter ;) Get a carbon one!

Re: destined for the track

With Castle Combe 'performance action day' round the corner i have wanted to tidy up the interior of the car and get it to a stage of where i actually like the innards of the cup. With its campus-esq seats and the campus steering wheel, these are the only things left to change. The seats are coming from Fletch's bus as soon as there out and the wheel comes in the form of an OMP targa. I was in the group buy for a sabelt item but have decided against it. With the new mats and carbon dash strips everything is coming along nicely. The only thing else i wanted to do was change the heater control panel as the old one was flaking and looking tatty. Got one from flebay and changed it over today  Honestly the hardest thing i have ever done to this car, If anyone still believes clios are badly put together give taking this out a try ! Pretty much took 30mins to even get out !

Oh and i might change the splitter, just so i can call the car 'finished' (to my standards)

Re: destined for the track

Great read this m8, your car is spot on :)

Also I like the splitter and seeing yours means I'm heading off to the scrappy soon to get one for myself :)

What's the k-tec ultra like for u??

Re: destined for the track

Looks great. And with them coming from Fletch's you know they'll be in tip top condition. :)

I'm currently stuck deciding between Trendlines or Pole Positions, as I want rid of the standard cup spec seats!

Re: destined for the track

Well next week was too long to wait. Pretty easy when you know what's involved, was quite hesitant at first because of the trouble Team Anorak Racing had the first time round with Fletch's bus. But after a long good look at what was involved its quite simple. Unbolt-unplug-take out, put in seat-plug in-bolt in.

Started off with jacking the car up as far as i could, there's also an axle stand under there.
5565326796_ea21fe911a_z.jpg

So glad i have a straight through pipe here, accessing the gearbox side nuts is so much easer !
5564752413_d5a27cf5cf_z.jpg

The two plugs under the seat. From what i have read and understand the left is for the pre-tensioners and seatbelts. The right is the air bag, notice as its a cup the air bag has noting connected so no need for resistors :)
