Went to Surrey Rolling Road today. Was a good day sadly didn't take any photos only a couple of videos. Made 173.4 bhp, talking to Charlie afterwards said it was just to do with the temperature today, The last run where I got 180 bhp was only 5* today was around 30* He had the graph from last time aswell and said everything was pretty much the same fuelling wise so he was happy :)

Got this week off before i start my new job :) So have decided to clean and seal the car up for the winter. After confessing on the detailing thread i have never prep'd the car for winter or even waxed it Russ pointed me in the direction of some gear that takes about 5 seconds to apply. So got the detailing gear out today and started off by giving it a good was in preparation for claying it tomorrow and then hopefully the sealant will be here Tuesday/Wednesday to finish it all off.

Check back tomorrow for the claying (if the weather stays fine)

And now the sad news :(

This is how the car will stay now until i save up enough and sell it ! With my new job i will be getting a van so will not have as much need for a car. And with the pay rise im going to save for something different. Have had fun with the Clio now for about 3 years but i now have the chance to move up to something else. Anyone who knows me will no I am a Ford man at heart so the logical step for me is a Mk1 Focus RS :)

Car looks good Chris :)

The detailing extravaganza is not finished yet mate.

Yea something that will show Tim's tart wagon up !

You need to ask yourself what you actually want from a car then stick with it.

One minute you love the 182 want to do trackdays, buying parts etc, next you're selling up and losing money on parts.

I think you should come on a trackday with Fletch and I before making a final decision about the 182 ;)

Just make sure you buy one of the 'better' Mk1 FRS that won't torque steer you into hedge, ditch oncoming traffic mate!

Isn't that all of them :p

Why should I stick with any car? Circumstances change Tim. You know that. Yea I do love my Clio but that shouldn't stop me from buying something else if I wish.

I meant decide if you want to do trackdays or not?

A Mk1 Focus RS is a great car but looked after it will at least hold it's value so I wouldn't go near a track in one.

Re: destined for the track

It's a lovely looking RB, however, I'm not fond of the front splitter. IMO a standard Renault or a Carbon Fibre one would look better. I noticed you had a standard splitter at the beginning of the thread and no write up as to what happended to it or why you replaced it. Just IMO of course.

your splitter is letting your car down big time! Reminds me of the Nova SR's back in the 90's. Its gash ! :dapprove: smart clio though !

just seen you have changed it, i can sleep better now ! I agree with the other thread though, why are you selling it after all this time and effort. How much money did you spend if you dont mind me asking ?

Gotta say Chris, this looked very clean and tidy yesterday. Put my heap to shame.

Cheers Sam

Il be honest with you mate. And put this to bed before I get a thread about 30 pages long with just talk about how iv wasted my money.

Probably spent about £2000 'modifying' it, obviously iv sold bits and pieces from that. Bough the car for £6500 and roughly near £2000 fixing various things, if not more. So lets say £8500 because im not counting the cost to fix it as that's part and parcel of owing a car Surely? So to answer the next question I get asked all the time, yes I could have saved all that money up till this point and bought a lovely Focus RS in mint condition. But 3 years ago that was not the first thing that popped into my head.

Your right I have spent a lot of time and care getting the Clio to where it is now and still after 3 years I love it. It will be sad to see it go. But as I said before that should not stop me (especially if I have the chance to save and get better car) from getting something else.

thats fair enough i guess! well you know what I am going to say next, you cant get a better car in my eyes than a clio RS . You have made your clio your own and I just felt sad reading the end of your project. The bit about how you were always a Ford man confused me really! Well neways all the best for your clio sure whoevers hands it goes into they will be very happy! :)

you need to open your eyes then.

yeh, the RS clio's are great value for money, and a good laugh, but there are Far better cars out there, both in terms of speed, handling, reliability etc. Focus RS's are great cars, but think i'd rather have an RB clio
