New 172 cup owner

New 172 cup owner- 1 quick question

Just thought I would say hello after a couple of weeks of ownership!
Very happy with the car although really should of checked the cambelt history fully! I found a receipt for cambelt only and not kit (Goodyear). This was apparently changed at 72,000 the car is now on 82,000. Removed engine mount to check cambelt and found tip ex marks!
After reading a few posts I found these 172 cups struggle for traction in 1st gear, although I'm not deliberately trying to wheel spin I don't seen to have any spin even in the wet! Just wondering when the cambelt was changed is it possible it wasn't timed up properly?
Thanks

Welcome to the club. I'm sure a mechanical minded person will point you in the right direction soon.

Mine has very good traction in the dry, but you can spin through first and second as soon as a bit of rain comes.
I would say it's pretty likely yours is timed wrong. If it's only had a belt and not the kit, then it needs to be done anyway so just get it looked at by a specialist.

Where abouts do you live?

Thanks for your comments.
I live in Bristol. Looks like I will be needing a new cambelt kit. Anybody know a specialist near Bristol?

If it's only had the cambelt done, it's overdue 2 aux belt changes
