After the death of my Kicker L7, I decided to bite the bullet and go for the Orion. Sadly little did I know the weight of it was a bit more heavier than expected.

I still need to bring the box in, drill and bolt the sub in. To get it into the car, I need to reverse my car as close to the house as possible then go for one mahoosive lift.

Which is what I thought. It was a tough choice between the RE XXX or this HCCA and just price vs punch, this seemed to really jump out at me.

Cost me £249 from Caraudiosecurity. Same as what I paid for my Kicker when it came out. Drove down and picked it up from Hayes. Prices have come down there.

For now, it will run off my Kicker KX1200.1. Be enough to give it a smooth run in. Then comes the time to amp shop. Need to seek some advice on that.

Shoe rack, think my sister picked it up from Ikeeaa.

Get the d5000 amp thats what i want, wise choice on the sub i really want one for mine saving to get the whole lot done at once, those orionns will make your ears bleed, they are crazy.

The d5000 is on my hit list but I think until I have sound proofed atleast the rear, I dont want to start racking up the cash on a new rack and build. Its so basic but next thing is a good set of comps.

Yes good plan mate that Orion will defo shake every single panel of your car sound deading is a must, and a decent set of components maybe DLS, Orion or Hertz etc??

EDIT: Custom box made for it set at 30hz for the low notes would be amazing only around £55 i got a quote for one.

This is the 15". The mag may look small but it does weight more than I thought. My back is paying for that now.

Ill let you know mate when i am on the other computer cant get on it atm i have favourited it. Yer dont get a sealed box btw the quote i got was for a 12inch ported box to fit a clio x reg. Who needs lowerings springs when you can have an Orion HCCA, also make sure you have a decent wiring kit, because my mates orions melted his power cables and fuses lol

Dont worry. Wiring and fuses have all been sorted. Alternator is next on my list. Tis very power hungry.

Yer it is when i get mine im going to have to upgrade the battery cables like the earthing and power cable, the alternator and the wires to the alternator, might just get a secondary battery to power it all it seems the sensible thing to do lol

The HCCA subs are a little power hungry. Assuming you have the dual 2ohm version, which will allow 1ohm operation of your Kicker amp, then upto 1.2Kw will just about get this sub moving....

You would be wise to opt for the Orion D5000 to run it....

In the meantime watch your gains, and pay attention to your voltage, these subs react to clipping rather quickly, smelly coils in seconds, burnt coils in minutes....

No mention of your current charge circuit or any upgrades, but with the D5000 fitted you must ensure you have the power to run it properly, this will involve adding at least one extra boot battery....

Cheers for the info. Gain has been set to about a third for now. I dont think I need anymore till I upgrade the power.

The XXX is on my hitlist but looking at a bigger boot in my next car for one. I just couldnt justify the price at the moment. Saying that, due to power upgrades, it will total up to the same. :quiet:

Hmmm.... I know if I had the one, I would somehow want another. That would be one insane build!

I would like a serious SPL demo car but have a feeling I would drive that everywhere instead.

Well there is only one car in the Uk with one and thats a golf its on the MTX website if your interested, that is a mental car. Think the sub came from audio assault.

The 'Jack Hammer' carries a fair dollop of 'WoW' factor, but not much else....Performance simply doesn't match the price tag imo....

I have recently heard a set of the Orion HCCA components, they were very impressive....Reckon they will be included in my next upgrade, (inverted obviously )....

That box is way way way way way too small for that sub! You'll need about 5 cubes minus displacements to get that sub to sing. Thats about 2 cubes there! Defiantly watch clip. Also if you get a D5000 take it easy on them, make sure they are mounted solidly as they have a tendancy to go bad......

That was a registered dealer who found this in a customers car. He no longer uses orion.

i had two 12" Orion HP subwoofers in my boot with the D2400 amp sounds crazy! but after my crash lastnight one of the subwoofers is totaly fucked and the other i havnt botherd to check if its working or the amp...

Yer its huge the magnet is massive on it lol, but i have stripped all my seats and the whole rear of my interior ready for mine haha, dont need the rooms so fill it with subs and amps. I rekon i would get a box like agithegreat posted

If thats off only 1000watts, that much excursion, in that small a box, you are without a doubt in my mind clipping it!!!!
Turn those gains down now, or enjoy your £250 paperweight!

Im having a look now for one. Dont want to be hammering this and lasting a week. The price does not bother me, it was the sheer weight of the bastid!
