New brakes on the 1.2 :D

  Chocolate Bar™
Big thanks to edde, he thoroughly deserved his 20 stella :D Not very good pics as they're a bit dark, but tried my best. Bought the k tec 285mm big brake conversion brackets and discs off edde and then went for some ferodo pads. Still not 100% fiished as the caliper fouls the wheel weight used to balance the wheel (edde, told you so ;)) but defo an improvement on standard so well worth the money, especially at eddes bargain basement prices! lick of paint going on in the next week or so (gloss black) so should look nice and new then. discs look rusty cos they've just been washed at the jet wash lol

Lookin good Middo!
How much was the setup - assuming you don't mind saying ;)

Have you managed to clean the disks up yet?

Couldn't believe how long it took though

Stupid wheel weights as well.

I though there was gold bars in the Stella box dam it I got ripped off. Evn if they were gold bars you've have got a bargin.

Are they all ok now?

I'm working on the replacment disks though.

Calipers and the brackets the calipers bolt to yep are a direct fit. will increase your disk size from 238 to 259mm and you'l have the same brakes at the front as a Valver or Williams.

^ dont think they'll fit behind your rims matey. I know winston had to put smaller discs on his valver to fit on his 13's

Yep you get the parts.
You need the 259mm disk (might as well get new onees halford charge £60 you can get them for £50 though from GSF I think etc.

Then you need pads stock FDB 845 from halfords are fine unless you drive Bedford race circuit hard and there only £17.

Calipers you need are from a Williams/Valver/Renault 5GTT/Mk2 phase 1 1.6 16V or any Mk2 phase 2 except the 1.2 8V's. They shouldn't be much I've got 2 hear if you need them for exchange.

Then you need the caliper bracket thingies if Middo can take a picture of his old ones you can see what you need. I've no camera to take pictures.

You'll also best change the lines for new ones or aftermarket ones Yozzasport sell them quite cheap I think or Demon Tweeks (just down the road if you want me to pick some up). then depending how rusted the old lines are we may need to chna the whole lines but it's not to bad say £10 of piping.

Then we'd need to bleed the brake setup so thats £10 of super dot 4 response from Demon Tweeks (its good stuff I've no real problem with it).

See above post Hopefully Middo can get some picture of the brackets I took off his car when you buy second hand brakes you sometimes get these thrown in as well.

I'm sure 14's are the limit on this setup.

R5GTT calipers are the same as the Williams/Valver/Renault 5GTT/Mk2 phase 1 1.6 16V or any Mk2 phase 2 except the 1.2 8V's they just use a different caliepr bracket and smaller disk (238mm). Same disk as the other (none RS) Clio use.
