New Cup Racecar

  Caterham/172/XC90/RX7
Hi Guys
Haven't posted for ages, thought i'd share a few snaps of my ex Clio Cup car that i'm prepping at the moment for next season. It was a bit rough round the edges when I got it so i've been giving it a tidy up, respray, reconned wheels, new harness etc its just waiting for some perspex windows to be fitted in two weeks and some custom vinyls and she'll be ready to race.
Let me know what you think.
Cheers
Simon

mate i take it its a hillclimb car yea? Just when you said 'next season' they wont be using those cars anymore in the clio cup season lol. Anyway, looks the biz! where do you track it?

Yeh its for sprinting and hillclimbing not the clio cup, i'd heard they are running the old cars in a separate series too

  Turbo'd MX-5 MK4
lol, why on earth has it got a BMW-esk shark fin aerial? Awesome though as said, love the colour scheme.

lol it had a bloody big hole in the shell where the aerial bolts in on the original, i was fed up of it leaking when I washed it so i got a carbon shark fin thing to stop it! its real carbon is its only saving grace!

Very nice Simon hope you have a good season, Looks nice with the ph2 shape I need to up date my rally car http://www.autogasuk.ws/rallyclio.htm
If you ever need anything pm me as I've gone through all the teething troubles
ps how heavy is she?

Cheers for the offer, the only thing i'm thinking I might need help with is the sadev box and the LSD, they're scaring me as I don't know too much about them! not sure as to the weight yet, i've not had it on any scales or corner weighted yet, renault sport says over 900kgs I think, i'm hoping it'll be slightly lighter with the perspex windows and rear screen.

well I don't have the sequential but I have had the sadev 5 speed dog box for a year , and it seems very strong

Love it, am I right in thinking that many/most Mk2 Cup racers are actually Phase 1 with updated bodywork?

I'm sure when Renault changed the road car design they just updated the race cars instead of everyone needing to buy new ones.

Very nice indeed...I bet that will do very well on hillclimbs if it's properly setup...is the Cup suspension adjustable?

Yeh, they're all phase 1's. Mines a 2000 phase one, number 36, in a 2005 shell (they've all had massive smashes so it's been reshelled)

Its that you russell, hows it going? seen you driving about, what new wheels have you got? they look spot on

Its adjustable to a point, its not bump and rebound, but it is ride height adjustable and you can play with camber/caster and toe in and out on the front and rear. Spring's are interchangable for different spring rates (I'm not 100% but I don't think you're allowed to do this in the championship but i'm fine where i'm running it)

The main setup change i'm doing to start with is the tyres, i'm going to run it on Super soft Hoosier rubber as the michelin's that are on it won't even have warmed up by the finish.

Awsum. yeh all pre 06/07 cup racer cars are now in modsports. Alot of scrap metal unfortunately.

More pics of the racer at silverstone the other week.
it's got the perspex windows in now and I had a passenger seat in for the day, graphics going on on tuesday and stickier tyres going on when they finally arrive.

Haven't really got any pics of the inside, engine or suspension setup like you wanted but i've scanned through n done the best I can, the suspensions bilstein coilovers with fixed rate damping so plenty of room to improve there.
