New dampers + Eibach Pros, or V-maxx/K-tec coilovers.

Bugger, didn't realise. If you don't want to mess about with changing hubs etc, standard with proline's is the best option IMO.

Never driven prolines, but Eibach springs are the best i've had.

So fresh dampers and sport/prolines will give you the best for the conditions you want. Cheap coilovers dont work, expensive coilovers dont work very well (for UK road conditions).

If you're really wanting to freshen it up get new bushes too, just standard ones, will tighten the car up a lot.

Not true that coilovers don't work. The kw's are slightly softer than a trophy, but can be made much firmer in a minute for track work. H&r's also work very well, but too many people bung themon with minimal setup, then wonder why they don't work. People should worry less about going low tbh.

H&R's don't work well in my opinion. Front is way too soft, rear is way too hard.
Had 2 different sets on my 182 and the sportlines + std dampers were a much much better option. I wouldnt waste my time or money considering coilovers again unless I wanted low, and only low.

Just shows how opinions differ. Burp felt the H&R's were way too soft on the rear. I felt they were pretty well balanced. There's no reason a well set-up coilover system should be outperformed by the oem units. In fact, I'd say they were badly set-up if that's the case.

On my local roads there is far too much bumpsteer etc for coilovers. Mine were pro set-up by a BTCC and BritCar Race mechanic, the H&R's and AST's.

They just don;t seem to work for road use, the car is way too stiff and snappy. I was convinced they were better after I had spent stupid money on them, but when it went back to standard the car was so much easier to drive quick. Yeah more bodyroll, but held the road better as it was more forgiving.

But that only occurs if you go too low! Did he laser align, corner weight etc?

Mine wasn't stupidly low, but it was low.
There was still a LOT of lower adjustment on the AST's.

Never had it corner weighted, wouldnt have made any difference for my style of driving, as on track I would have had a passenger/instructor anyways most of the time.
It was set up to -ve2 on the fronts, slight bit of negative toe.

All of this is opinion as I've said all along, I think Coilovers are VERY over-rated for road use; people just assume they will be good because of the price. For track the difference would be noticeable, but road use complete waste of money.
