New Exhaust system £400 including decat? for 172 cup

Am thinking about replacing the stock exahaust with a new system - am looking to spend around £400 or so, i do want to keep it stealth and am open to options on getting a decat

are there any problems in getting a decat apart from coming to mot time, i've heard somepeople say that the emissions light on the dash comes on, does this harm the car in anyway?

what are the perfromance gains like with a decat?

no idea tbh, I've never had a pro speed, but people rave on about them. For power gains I'd say the GDI one will almost certainly be better as they are made with this in mind and not to be aesthetically designed to a customers specific design.

The quality of the GDI one is superb at any rate, for the money you wont get a better system under £500. They look great, sound great, give a nice little performance gain and aren't too loud. Sorted

I am in a similar situation of wanting a new exhaust, but it has to be stealth and not too loud. I was going to go for the K-tec stealth because of it's build quality and the good reports I have heard on it. But several people have said it is sold as a quiet exhaust but actually is quite loud - is this correct?

If so, what is the difference between the K-tec stealth and GDI stealth one? How quiet is the GDI one? Anyone got any sound clips? How is the build quality of the GDI? Pics?

You get a lifetime guarantee with most SS exhausts !

Ktec stealth system is fine IMO, i went from standard to cat back magnex to powerflow then Ktec stealth and its quieter then both previous exhausts.
It is damn loud with a decat speaking from experience but with standard cat is fine. You can drive at low rpm and little throttle with no one batting an eye or floor it to sound full on and raspy. But each to their own

the k-tec system with a decat is very raspy and quite loud where as the gdi system is a proven 88-90db with no boominess on the motorways at around 70-80mph!! will be a little louder with the de-cat but will be worth it!

Hmmm, your swaying me towards the K-tec one, simply because I have had this in mind all the time. Plus, I currently have the twin 3.5'' Magnex setup on (previous owner) which i can't wait to get rid of.

I suppose everyones given up hope of ever seeing the all singing, dancing, Angelworks exhaust. It was 3x £400 so doesnt quallify for this thread.

Sounded good on paper though.

But putting the K-tec stealth on as a normal cat back, does this sound okay, like markpw said? I suppose i'm wanting to compare it to my Magnex twin pipe exhaust, as long as it is quieter than this, then i'm not really bothered.
