I want to upgrade the front pads on my 182 to a set that will handle occasional trackdays. I have been advised by a local brake specialist that Mintex 1166 is a good compound, but he is having trouble working out what the correct backing plate for the pads is. Obviously I could take the old pads off and take them in to him but would rather not (due to a general lack of mechanical ability). Does anyone know what type of backing plate is required? Many thanks.

i've got carbon lorraine pads on with brembo max discs. bf goodridge lines and 5.1 fluid. awesome set up but squeal like hell. ds2500 are a popular choice to and arent as aggressive as the carbon lorraines. speak to david or shaun at k-tec as thats were i got mine from.

depends what your looking at. to reduce fade braided lines are a must but im not sure on 5.1 as dot 4 is fine. a good fast road pad or something as extreme as lorraines + discs as well. some reasonable deals for the lot can be had, have seen yozza doing a lines, pad + disc setup for a good price as looking for pads + disc myself.

5.1 would need to be changed after just about every trip so i wouldnt bother with that, stick to 4 dot as mentioned above. Im not so sure on this one wolf but surely braided hosing would increase brake fade? It helps to increase the feel and effieciency of the brakes so as a result helps the brakes work at their maximum output which as a further result gets them to a state of fading much quicker? Again i could be wrong, its just an educated guess i suppose.
182 brakes are fantastic, i cant recommend a set of pads as ive not experienced any after markets on the 182 as of yet but for occasional track day use id just make sure that you have functional discs and pads with plenty of life and correct fluid levels.
