Hey was up clio clan, newbie here! Hope everyone is well...

Picking up my first 172, and indeed first Renault, this Sat. . . CANT WAIT! I've come from a Golf mk2 16v, and im a dubber at heart, but i decided to go modern and i didnt really like the thought of owning a mk4 1.8T. So yeh there's a bit about me - i hope this forum is as great as ClubGTI!

Here she is anyway...

yeh cheers for the welcome - the pic should be ok now!

Why do you say that Dave? speaking from experience?

I have just seen to many people jump straight in and think the car is stuck to road like glue and push it too hard.

One example, is a guy went straight into back of a bus. I wonder how? If you know the limits of the brakes?

Also standard pads wil fade easy if you brake alot.

Ok mate thanks for the advise. im a driver of 4 years though without so much as a scratch so im sure i'll be fine - track enthusiast also :)

So brake fade huh. . . i take it the 172 has vented disks? Is it so bad to warrent a brake upgrade in the future - drilled/grooved disks?

Yep, just get a decent set of pads. I can recommend ferodo ds2500s they bite hard! Dont touch greenstuff pads, as I have some on the car i bought and they barely get the abs kicking in and thats in the wet.

Yeh the Turinis are ace! couldn't believe it when i got there, out of the 5 172's they had, the one silver one they had (my prefered colour) not only was the only one with Turinis but it was the cheapest by a grand! Probably why it wasn't long before i owned it!

I did notice the 'sport' was on that side, i had noticed it on a couple of others too thoguh - i just assumed the Cup's had it on the N/S?

yeh cheers for that mate - i do know my O/S to N/S... maybe i was unclear in my wording. Meant to say that i did notice my 'sport' badge on the O/S, but its not the first clio i have seen like that - i assumed maybe it was only the 'Cup' models that have it on the N/S - evidently not

It should be on the otherside, I would check that it hasn't had a little bump as its usually bodyshops that put the badges in the wrong places.
The colour looks mint with the Turinis, and please don't spray them anthracite, its been done to death!
