Newbie tech questions

Hi all, this is my first post and I was hoping you could help me with a couple of technical queries.

I have a 52 reg 1.4 Dynamique. One of the coils stopped working a few months back and was replaced by a friendly AA man under warranty. I took it to the dealer and they said the coils were from a suspect batch and should be replaced but Id have to pay for it! Has anyone had the same issue and persuaded Renault tp pay?

After the car has been stationary for a few moments (traffics lights, T-juntions etc.) and I press on the loud pedal I can hear a whoosing running water sound from around the cup holders. I presume this is coolant, but Im sure I didnt used to be able to hear it. Is this normal?

Thanks, Luke

Should be a warranty thing if it they are admitting that the coils could have been fault in the first place.

Renault should paynout I think give Renault UK a call theyll check it out. VAG had a problem with some of there coils a while back and replaced them under warently. Also Renault have replaced a few 172 coils in the past with no problem all under warently. I cannot see them deeming it as normal wear and tear.

It could be water slosing round somewhere
