Newbie to the Club - Question

  Evo VI Tommi Makinen
Hi Guys been reading the forum for a while now and have finally become a member.
I have a 2000 MK1 172 in Silver which is my baby.
Mods are basically K&N 57i which sounds nice on the power cam and a KTEC Stealth exhaust.

I'm sure the question has already been asked but under hard acceleration in first gear I get a creaking clonking noise from the engine as if its catching on something. It sounds as if the engine is twisting under load and catching maybe the bulkhead. But sounds a bit shite and was wondering if there is a cure for it. KTEC have a new bottom engine mount which has a twist in it but that won't fit mine apparently.

Any Ideas anyone.

Thanks
Rob

hmm.. I've seen a few Mk1 172's with the twisted engine mount.. have you actually looked at yours?

Already changed the drivers side mount after it snapped the bolt about 3 months ago but it still clunks in first gear under full throttle.

The engine mount K-Tec do won't fit your car. i thought I had the same problem as you. Turned out it is the exhaust that's the problem - hitting the subframe :(
