Next Generation Consoles

Screen aside, the PS4 controller looks hardly any different from the PS3, so in terms of holding and using it I can't see it being massively different. I've also got DualShock 3 controllers at home that refuse to charge, all of my Xbox controllers work perfectly.

The ps4 controller looks to be heavier and bigger than the ps3, two things people complained about, so that should make people happy.

My problem with the PS controller is the actual layout, it just feels awkward with where the sticks are. Xbox is perfect for me.

As AK said. The Xbox controller has always felt comfortable and accessible whereas the PS game-pad has been an awkward play. The PS controller hasn't really changed since the original Playstation release, except a few additions and doesn't look much different bar a sensor line.

Right, so they haven't changed the design for years, hmmm, I wonder why that is, maybe the majority of people don't actually have a problem with it?

its symmetrical, some people prefer to be normal.

Guess it also depends what type of games you prefer.

For me I can pick up either controller and just play, I'm engrossed by the game, not how I'm holding the controller.

LOL @ prefer to be normal. What exactly is "normal"? I'm sure it's not defined as "symmetrical".

The XB360 controller is much better than the PS controller, but that's in my opinion. It would be a pretty boring place if everyone agreed with each other. Ergonomically, it's just a nicer controller to use.

I can actually get frustrated over time with either controller, too. The XB360 one can tend to rub on the fingers depending on how you hold it, and the PS3 one just feels flimsy and light, which can lead to annoyance irrespective of how engrossed you are in the game.

But, as I say, everyone is different, so it's all good.

Why would what games you prefer determine which controller feels more comfortable in your hand?

depends whether the games tend to use analogue and buttons, or two analogues etc.

The argument for the 360 controller is that games use the left analogue and the right buttons, so they are positioned in the same places on either side of the controller. but then some games will use both analogues and for that the ps3 has those in the same position etc.

The controller issue is the decider for me. That and the fact I don't really play my current Xbox much recently

I've never found the PS controller better than the Xbox's for any game - although not tried a 2d beat em up which it might have been better for as the d-pad was weak on the 360. However the new One d-pad is meant to be a LOT better and satisfying to use.

I just don't like the layout of the DS format and don't find it as comfortable, either.

360 controller is vastly superior to the PS3 and anyone who disagrees must have some seriously deformed gaming claws.

My thumbs are in the same place on each hand, I prefer my analogue sticks to match that evolutionary design. I find the layout of the Xbox one difficult to use although I do prefer the chunkier design.

That argument is seriously flawed considering the left and right hands perform different functions on a game controller.

I find ps3 controller fine for me. I don't get any ache etc.

used xbox one and that felt nice too. Tbh, i don't feel a great deal of difference.

Roy, you played journey yet on ps3?

I'm sticking with Sony for the first few months at least I've decided. Not really fussed either way (especially controllers, really doesn't bother me).

Ryse is the only reason I'd buy an Xbox at launch. Forza 5 I'm a little skeptical about. I have an inkling that it will be a typical launch hyper.

Anyone ordered the xbox 'day one edition' with tesco? Only seems to be them and currys that have stock for pre orders now but don't know what they're like :dapprove:

would rather order with tesco out of the 2 as I can pay a £20 deposit rather than the full £429 straight up.

Isn't it #driveclub?

#Apparentlyso.

I get Drive Club - sorry, #driveclub - mixed up with The Crew, which has apparently most of the US roads mapped, which is quite an incredible number of miles as you can imagine.

Ordered mine through Tesco, mate - but it helps as my good lady is a manager and I also get the extra discount. Sorted. No stock problems as far as I am aware so I'd say they are as reliable as anyone else. Plus they have as much, if not more, buying power than a lot of other stockists these days...

I'm pretty sure that when we looked into this, it actually hasn't got all the roads mapped at all.

it just has the ability to drive between places like LA and NY, which if it was real mapped roads would take a few days, but it takes minutes in this for example.

Just read that you can use a phone app to buy ps4 games, and it will turn your ps4 on for you, download the game and then turn off again, all while you are at work if you want.

but while this is cool, there has to be some give on the prices, if they're just going to charge rrp, nobody's going to buy online and download.

The Crew looks s**t. Driveclub looks decent. Forza 5 looks like Forza 4 1080p, frankly. Which isn't a bad thing. It's just not semi rock-on worthy either.

I'm slowly regretting pre-ordering the PS4/X1 with GAME in town.

It was on impulse, and now means I've got to drive in on the day/night to collect. Should have ordered online.

PS4 is 29th November iirc. X1 is just 'November'.

I'm not too fussed with pre-ordering from Shopto.

Like I say, I've gone for the XBO with free Fifa14 digital download and Battlefield 4 bundle.

Honestly so psyched for BF4. So many good games available at launch though. Watchdogs too.

http://uk.ign.com/articles/2013/09/04/xbox-one-is-now-in-full-production-with-an-improved-cpu

Xbox chief marketing officer Yusuf Mehdi has confirmed the Xbox One is now in 'full production' with a last-minute CPU boost.

Speaking at the Citi Global Technology Conference, Mehdi revealed production is on track for a November launch and the console's CPU has been improved from 1.6 GHz to 1.75 GHz. As reported by GeekWire, Mehdi said the upcoming release of the Xbox One will be the biggest Microsoft has undertaken by a "wide margin" in terms of units shipped at launch.

"(The Xbox One) is really going to shine."

The news comes roughly a month after Microsoft confirmed the Xbox One's clock speed has been increased from 800 MHz to 853. A release date for the console is yet to be officially announced.
