Noise after fitting powreflex dogbone mount

  Monaco 172 + mk1 RSi
Im aware that there may be some extra vibration in the cabin after fitting the powerflex dogbone mount (ph1 172 type ) but the excess noise im getting im not happy with as the noise sounds more like a fault than excess noise from the new bush.

I last drove the car last sunday, about 200 mile round trip and the car was fine, then i went away with work all week and got back last night, but i never drove the car between getting back and fitting the dogbone bushes this morning, so now its constantly in the back of my mind weather its the dogbone mount causing the noise or weather it was there before but because i havent driven it for a week im not sure lol

The noise sounds like the exhaust hitting the subframe which is confusing because the bush is supposed to stop that ironicly, a while back the gearbox mount snapped and the noise it was making then is similar to now but it was louder then, and the same as then its only under acceleration then when at a constant it stops.

It may be in my head but it feels as if its holding the car back:S lol, the noise starts about 2000rpm and when the power changes with the vvt it increases the noise considerably.

sorry for the long post with no real direction:eek: im just curious to peoples thaughts

thanks jamie

Try loosening the main bolt on both the upper mounts and pulling the engine forward then tightening (haven't tried this myself as no problem but read it somewhere)

Also did you fit the mount the right way up? There's a thick end and thin end on where it bolts the the gearbox, thick end should be at the top if I mind right, buy I'd double check that with a search

I thaught about pulling the engine forward but seen as it was fine before, i didnt wanna fix something that aint broke and overlook the real problem

as for the thicker end, mines not the twisted ph2 type, its straight on the ph1 and as far as i know ive fitted it right, ill upload a pic of it fitted

thanks jamie
