Noisy blowers/heaters and/or dead motor?

  106 gti
Hi guys,
Got an issue with my heaters/blowers!
Basically when I start the car the blowers are dead, if I give the lower dash a whack (where the blower is situated) it’ll come on but only on the highest setting. It’s noisy but after a while it gets really bad and fluctuates and stutters then eventually dies to the point where I just turn them off.

anyone else had an issue like this? Not sure whether it’ll be the resistor (how easy is this to change btw) or the blower motor itself?

cheers in advance, clio 200 btw!

Sounds like the connection block has burnt out, pretty common..

Sounds like it thanks mate,
Also doesn’t sound like a fun job to do, anyone had a specialist do it and if so how much should I expect to pay for a new motor?

See if it is the motor first, it probably isn't. It's not hard to fix, I got all the info off here and took it to my dad, he cracked on no problem.

I watched a couple of videos and info on here suggests removal of the whole lower dash and moving the clutch pedal and steering column to gain access so probably too much for me to give a go really :p
Has anyone got any links to pattern parts they’ve fitted? Don’t fancy going 2nd hand obviously but genuine parts are coming in at £300 for motor (if needed) and resistor pack
