Non Canbus Hids on a phase 1 172

  Clio 172, BMW Mini
Hi everbody have fitted a hid kit ( AC) to my x reg phase 1 172 only to the dip beam the kit I used is not Can Bus friendly, I am having a lot of problems with ecu faults being thrown up, the scanner is saying virtually every sensor on the car has a fault, would the hid kit be causing this as is being suggested by the guy that built the car for me.

Thanks in advance for replies.

Hi Dink does the car car need can bus friendly hid units though, or does it not matter, the hid kit I bought came from china is that an indicator that it ain't good and could be noisy and causing the issue.

hi Zeitgeist yep my hid kit works perfectly what I am trying to determine is whether the car actually REQUIRES a kit that is canbus rated ie does the car have a canbus ecu that would be upset by a hid kit that isn't canbus compliant ? that is what I am trying to establish, as other things have been done to my ecu that could and are causing problems ie the abs system has been disabled in such a way that the light isn't on which involves a wire going to the ecu, when this wire is connected the ecu will not connect to a code reader at all but when its disconnected it will and finds many sensor faults listed, so I currently have this wire disconnected which means I have ABS, Brake warning, Service and Stop lights on, I also have my hid ballast, disconnected as well, because all the ecu faults are causing the car to be severely down on power, also the immobiliser has been bypassed, which may or may not be why my central locking cycles itself, and frequently drops the key code out and has to be reprogrammed 5 times a week.

As I for reasons connected with the above and other reasons have parted company with the guy that built the thing ( as a road rally car ) I am at a loss as to what to do next, also when the hids are disconnected and the abs wire off the code reader persistently brings up a post cat lamda sensor fault, ain't life fun.

Cheers Chris
