Cheers Camble that helps me a lot...
So jack up the car...
It looks perished to feck so, Get the nut off if its still on.
Mole grip and twist the bush out then get the bolt out the top?
Then i need a metal bar to push downwards the ARB?.. This will allow me to do what get the middle bit out?.
Still a bit baffed, But im guessing it will explain itself.
Could you do a rough step by step guide for me? Would really help.
And then after ive got the new one in i have to compress the bar to allow me to tighten it up?
Mine were slightly perished, but here goes:
From memory...
Raise the car and take the wheel off, point the steering inwards to allow for more room.
Use a 10mm (iirc) spanner/socket to undo the bolt on the bottom.
Use a long bar to push down the ARB, either put the end of the bar under the sill so that it is pushing the ARB down a lot and keeps it in place to allow for both hands to be free, or get someone to hold the bar for you.
BE CAREFUL WITH THIS, AS IT WILL BE ON HIGH TENSION AND IF THE BAR SLIPS IT WILL FLICK UPWARDS AND COULD HURT YOU!
With the ARB pushed downwards, you will have room to fiddle with the middle bush, use molegrips to lock onto it.
Use a slightly smaller pair of molegrips to go around the bolt head, either keep this still while twisting the middle bush downwards or try and turn opposite ways, be careful as either can easily slip.
Once the middle bush is removed, pull the bolt through the top.
Fitting is reversal of removing, once you have the middle bush above the ARB and the bolt through, slightly release the rod/bar you used to lever the ARB down before and allow the nut to pass through the ARB, now you
should be able to put the bottom bush and finally the nut on, the hardest bit is to get the nut onto the thread as the bolt needs to be perfectly straight through the other bushes and bars to allow the thread to show as much as possible, once you have jiggled it about a bit you will be able to get the nut onto the thread for one or more turns, then just tighten it with the spanner/socket.
Tighten until the bolt shows about 1cm of thread
under the nut.
JOB DONE!
