Noooo!

*thumps head on desk*

I have just phoned Directline and the fella on the phone said i have to be 21 to make any modifications  Thing is im sure other people on here have gone against this and have been insured with them happily enough?

Looks like im going to either have to be a naughty boy and not declare mods or switch to L&V, pay an extra grands premium but do whatever i want to the car. Decisions..

Try the CIS https://tr3.cis.co.uk/motor/index.html">https://tr3.cis.co.uk/motor/index.html as they are pretty good with young lads. A son of a neighbour had a modded/lowered/induction kit/tints/alloys 205 Rallye at 18 and the CIS insurance rep reckoned that when guys mod their cars, get nice alloys etc that they are more likely to take care of their car than if it was an ordinary runaround. Try them Rob!

I know this CIS rep and he also has said that if you are a young guy who finds it expensive insuring a car, get a parent to insure it in their own name for a few weeks then ADD THE YOUNG PERSON TO IT AFTER THAT FEW WEEKS AS A NAMED DRIVER. This works out cheaper, and the insurance company dont then assume that the young person will actually be the main driver, as is what they would assume if the two names were insured at the outset!
