Not Normal Dans R26 Megane F1

Yeah potentially, I've got a lot of things that's come before the car at the minute (wedding and new house) so progress may not be as quick as usual.

Been pricing up P4P 5mm lexan rear windows, been looking for some form of composite panels (boot, bonnet etc) but it's proving hard as I'd imagine there isn't really a market like the clio and I don't want to fork out for carbon and then paint on top.

For now a set of seats and stripped out rear and lighter battery will do though as there's a few areas I'd like to work on, fuel system, few more brake up grades too

Sweet plans sound good mate. Look forward to what's going to happen with it! I too have pretty much the same plans but like you say annoyingly the market for the meg aren't really that great.

When you do come to cage time.. give Shaun at SW motorsport a shout, I'll be taking mine there next year for a full 6 point. He gave me a pretty good price

I've actually been looking at there site, doesn't he build the civic cup cars??

Yeah I think there's so many race series that the clios are eligible for and there proving quite a cheap and well setup track car out the box that the market is far bigger then the Meg market.

I could get a friend to knock up a grp bonnet but a boot..... Well is a whole different ball game no doubt.

I think he does yeah but he's done a few R26's I think, don't think he's too far from you either.

Yeah I'd love lightweight windows, bonnet boot etc but don't really fancy paying mega bucks lol

Yeah the windows can be had for around 400 quid, for the 3 rears and that's for 5mm ones.

I can't say I haven't thought about going back to a clio though and buying myself a nice daily, don't know whether I'm getting old but driving modified cars on the road is a pain in the arse haha

Rwd transits are the only van to buy. Driftworks eat your heart out!! I used to love getting the works transit sideways. Lol

Not sure I want something that big outside, it'll stop the day light into me kitchen and last thing I want to do is use the light haha, I'm a tight fucker after all lol

So that's it the tunnel is booked and me and missus are off to the Nurburgring in August in the megane!

Few little bits to update. So always been happy with my current brake setup but thought some fresh fluid and some goodridge hoses can't be a bad thing.

Hit up JJC yet again who offered some good discount

Yet to fit these but got a week off next week so these a new drivers side driveshaft and boot loom and service will be carried out in preparation for Germany and many more track days haha.

Yesterday went for a drive out with some of the Megane lads. We decided to head off to Wales or Gods country as some call and try out the Evo triangle and roads surrounds Llangollen

Me up with Steve a pal with his r26r and Jacob and Gray at a local services and headed off to Telford to meet Ste burns and another chap called Russ in his 265.

Luckily the weather held out for us and we made very good progress to our first watering hole, ponderosa cafe.

After that we went off to the triangle to put the meganes through there paces!

This car never fails to amaze me! The sheer pace it carries and grip it offers is astounding! Yet again all the cars performed faultlessly and we all went home with smiles on our faces!

Also gave it a bit of a service in prep for the big trip.

Then I stripped and rebuilt me hubs today with some new bearings from Derby bearings.

People seem to be afraid of these hubs but the job really is a piece of cake and can be done with basic tools.

New bearings, quality skf items

Really is an easy job and even though mine weren't in such a bad state it really has improved the drivability and doesn't seem to wander so much

So today I spent a couple of hours swapping the brakes lines for the braided goodridge ones earlier in the thread and giving the car its final once over before the trip to the ring Friday

Anyone pics of front hoses

Also changed the brake fluid for rbf 660 race fluid, all bits for JJC with discount [emoji106]

Pedal feels seems much more positive now especially coming down from high speeds.

Also few weeks ago replaced the knackered boot wiring loom and fitted some new smd number plate light units

In my opinion it's a little cheap touch which makes them look a little more premier lol

Anyway all in all I'm so happy with how the cars performing on track and road now
