Obisound Exhaust

Hello, i ve justed registered, i drive a Clio 172 Cup and wondered if anyone knows anything about Obisound exhausts. I think they are fitted to the Cup racers but when i spoke to R Sport a while a go they said they are not for sale- problems with the lamda sensors on the cat. Also are the Viper induction systems worth the money or is a replacement K&N panel filter / cone as good. P.s i take it Renault are not going to release any performance modifications? P.P.s i see that LAD conversions are getting a lot of stick. Car and car conversions reviewed it not to long ago and rated it as their second best modified hot hatch.

This is the orbisound I run used in Cupracing, and you can buy it if you pay enough. No problem with the lambda but with sound emmisions for cupracing(at least here in Holland we have to run Laser instead). In the new season the exhaust changed maybe you can hook up with an old one....

i run a supersprint race system 70 mm very similar to the orbisound but cheaper

Cheers very much. Dogmaul how much is a supersprint is it de cated does it make much difference to performance and what does it sound like?

supersprint is indead a lot cheaper but gives less power than Orbisound. We did testing on all kinds of race-exhausts (I mean FULL system with racecat) and Orbi came out with the most horses and torque. (we did supersprint, omp, scorpion, EPS and Ansa)

Unfortunately we cannot run without cat. And 12 Bhp with ONLY exhaust without cat isn´t that a little much ?!?!??! We have racecat, full exhaust, modded ecu which brings us ´only´ 15 bhp in Clio racing !!!

i am i right in thinkinng the up racers get 180 bhp from exhaust and plugs? What fillter do they use?

others with more mods were making less about 147-150

yes and I think dogmauls is a good bargain. But if you want a Orbisound I think I can hook you up with one. I have to check our Stock there has to be one somewhere I think. Sparkplugs are stock in clioracing.

how did the others come out in comparison!? in order? incl the laser too

the main reason a cup racer can do 0-100mph in a tad over 10secs is due to its lightweight and special (very expensive) gearbox!

dogmaul,yours is the 70mm system,but im sure ive read you and someone else posting about having a 63 or 65mm system,am i right.Whats the difference any power gains or losses with each system.

mines 70 the do a smaller one 63.5 mm i think wackojacko is the only one i know with it

I will see if there are some left, we stopped using them cause in 2002 the soundemissions did not allow us to run the orbisound anymore. As for we run 6/7 race clios I allready sold 5 or 6 allready. Maybe there is one on the shelf. I also know that for the 2004 season also the backside will be different with also a different exhaust. Now we will have also 6 laser exhausts overcomplete at our team. I do not know what they will do with it maybe it will be a trade in with Laser. And yes if you check my posted picture I placed the orbi myself and its placed nicly in the middle with enough spacing in the backbumper. But if you cannot wait maybe its an idea for all youse over there in the UK. As they will change over to new exhausts (in the Cliocup UK they still run orbi) try to call whatever Cliocup racing team and ask if they sell their spare used Orbisound exhausts. I think a lot of team will do so. And it will fit both mk1 as mk2.

I do not know the exact figures anymore but Orbi was the loudest and produced the best torque and power against all other competitors. It was not +5 bhp / + 10 Nm against others but the torqueband was just better overall.

oh yes I forgot Dogmauls Supersprint looks VERY nice and almost the same as mine, the only differences I see mine is stainless and not polished and comes out as a straight pipe.

Hi,

I think the Cup racers are 57mm in interior diameter, the exhauts walls are 1.5mm, so that will be 60mm outer diameter.

Phantom I just measured one pipe (pipe which comes from cat) and it´s inside is 63 mm outside almost 66 mm (orbisound used in Cliocup here in Holland)

Right well mine is the 63mm Supersprint race system.

You cannot get the 70mm (dogmauls) systems as it was a limited run and there are no back boxs left at all (europe) However as far as i can tell the 63mm is better because you can alway bung the cat back in come MOT time.

I would imagine that if the Orbisound fails the sound/emmision then the Supersrpint will as well. It is VERY loud although i do love the smell of an de-catted car running on SUL!!!

Oh and small single exit exhuast look so much better that stupid large K-tec and magnex exhausts......! I mean what is the point of them!!

Is dogmauls 70mm outside diameter or inside and the 63mm one is that inside mesurement.And wacko do you have any power gains on your exhaust and any pics of it on the car.Whats the difference between the 70mm and 60mm.

Tony, i got that info from a mechanic from Renault Sport Portugal, it was the exhaust they used to race in "Trofeu Clio Galp Energia" here in Portugal, dont know if its orbisound or not.
