Oil consumption

Cups done just over 3k and used a bit of oil (about half way between min and max)..........guess this is just part of the running in phase.

Do they tend to settle down after a while or generally use a bit between services (I suppose how u drive it may have something to do with it) ? What have you found with yours ?

I had a 95 RSi and that would never hold oil at max level for more than 2-3k miles. Used to use perhaps third of a litre and then stabilise and not use another drop !

Itll use more to begin with while its running it, but should calm down a bit.

Dont be suprised if it still uses some between services, just keep it topped up.

As long as its not using a lot of oil, (eg. over 500ml per 1000miles) everything sounds normal.

oil consuption should get less as the engine ages.official max consumption figures are-

anything under 1 litre per approx 700 miles is ok as far as renault is concerned

Ive done about 13k miles and used about 0.5 ltr running in to 3 k, got an oil change and then used about 1 ltr upto the 12k service.

mines had about 2 litres in 9000 miles!
