On mine the clip in the 3rd picture down has a metal bar running through it which holds it in place. Hard to explain.

you need to take that wire clip out of the cover and put it back on the flap part and then itll slot into itself

There should be a metal spring clip on the oil filler cover . Looking at your pic , in the hole on your engine cover the metal clip is there from another oil filler cover . They do snap off easily if you try and remove the oil filler flap to fill your oil . Your better off removing the whole engine cover .

Right here you are

£10 an hour plus nearly falling off a bloody ladder getting the bloody thing!! Took about 5 mins!

It might be broken off . You can get some epoxy resin though to stick it back on .

but there was no way it was going in, because the two plastic things sticking out, one will go in the hole but the other is way of??

I'd do what Dcds4 says . I have an engine cover here and i can't get the oil cover off without risking snapping off the clip , it's a stupid design if you ask me . Stick it on permanently and just remove the whole cover like i said before when you need to change the oil .
