Has there just been an over the air update from o2? My phone just froze for 2 or 3 minutes and when I wen back to the homescreen I now have a tiny O2 symbol under my clock at the top. Positive it wasn't there before

Do o2 send cell tower information? Maybe that position might be used for that in v3 firmware?

Push notification has been activated by Apple for developer use and testing now.

How strange! I just rebooted and it now gone, as people on the o2 forums said. It must slightly rearrange the home screen as there is no way of would fit there now I have rebooted

For anyone installing either beta, be sure to set up the iPhone as a new device in iTunes, otherwise you'll run into YouTube and MMS problems.

How many 2.X Beta were there before they went final? Any indication based on the reliability of 3.X of a suspected release? Guessing June still looks most likely.

3.0 has been reliable although it does eat all the free system memory and require me to use Free Memory app several times during the day. I still reckon it'll be a June announcement with a July release date.

not all videos can be done like that - you need to convert them to play - into what i'm not sure though...

ok so since I got one of these crazy arse contraptions the gf has gone and got herself one too..

any implications from connecting them both to the same itunes software (we have different itunes accounts though)

I'm thinking things would start to c**k up when it comes to syncing?!?

No problem at all as they'll be called different names. Assign a synced playlist for each and you'll be fine.

Have you upgraded to beta 3 yet sneeks? I hear there are issues with Apps designed for 2.2.1

From what I've read it only has issues with applications currently on test using the sdk, they must be compiled for 3.0

App store purchased apps are ok. I'll know for sure in 5 minutes once I've installed it.

Update installed and all apps working perfectly.

Nice to see the inclusion of a scrubbing bar within the iPod app to make it easier to find the correct section of a song/podcast while listening to it. The 2.* method is terrible and a nightmare to jump to a exact playback time.

Be sure and register your UDID onto your developer account before updating to 3.0

My favourite feature is one of the most simple - texting in the landscape mode!

I'm so used to texting in portrait mode that I usually forget to use landscape but it is great to finally have the option. The iPod time bar is my favourite addition to B3.

Everything is running smoother in comparison to b2.

Yeah, can't wait for email in landscape. Will probably just get the new version of the phone TBH.

Currently if you are listening to a song or podcast and want to find a exact section of the track it's a pain in the arse as clicking on the bar is not very accurate at all. Now if you click the bar and drag your finger down the screen it adjusts the speed that the small dot moves along the bar making it more accurate to define the section of the track you wish to restart at.

You noticed the speed thing on podcasts?

And the email icon thats greyed out. Bizzare.

Yeah that was greyed out in b2 also. The jump back 30 seconds button is handy.
