3 months of ownership .... She's in for her 12k service, the oil cooler is fooked, and the front engine mounts need changing before i change the tyres as the geomitry is way out + theres play in them :dapprove: (rh inner tyre is bold!) :(

Thats £930!

Rear pads i was quoted £500 + inc fit! Come oct the hyd fluid will need changing etc etc!

These vee's are bloody expensive you know!

plus i wont have her for ten days, probably more knowing my garage

Am I missing something here? £500 for rear pads and labour seems extortionate? Rear set are about £45 aren't they?

thats way high!!!!! although, does pretty much always cost a grand every time the vee enters a garage lol.

might be better off getting after market pads compared to those prices. you can get 3 full sets of red stuff front & rear for that money!!!

you should try out sg motorsport Dawn, there only a hours drive, better service and cheaper than that!

They're not great but you can pick up a pair of Mintex pads for about £30.00. You can get disks from places like Carlton Garage for about £250.00 a set so if you shop around you can save a lot of money.

LOL! The diddy 182 rear pads are.

The Vee's rear brakes are huge!

still wouldnd get me paying £500 for rear brakes v6 or not its still a clio ok they look great but hardly known for there great handling or being the quickest in there class etc as said should have gone 2.0 cup or similar:eek:

Her car is absolutely stunning though, a 2.0 Clio simply doesn't compare in so many ways.

just looked at figures online and i always thought the v6 was the dogs danglys but only hals a second quicker to 60 than a 172 cup and a worse top speed than my previous mk5 golf gti in my oppinion is preety poor considering the engine is 50% bigger than the 172/182 then theres the topgear power lap time lol slower than preety much any other hot hatch on the list some worth 10k less when new aswell ie ctr etc (NOT GOOD)

Never been in or driven a vee then ;) trust me they take the piss out of any 2.0l clio

My housemate recently had a major service done on his vee at a stealer - Ezra Sugden Renault in Worksop, massive V6 enthusiast - cam belt (engine out job), clutch, oil & filter, plugs, new pads all round, new coolant, new brake fluid, new drive shaft & gearbox oil for the grand sum of £2,800

The nearest stealer to us wanted £2,500 just for the cam belt & oil change

I think you're missing the point a little. The Vee is rewarding in so many ways, it certainly isn't the fastest thing out there but raw power alone does not make a great car.

Also I seem to recall that the Mark II matched the time of the Aston Martin Vanquish round the track?

Agreed, they're gash but...

"it's not about that"

As i said on V6.net.

I bet Reno broke the cooler. Easy done if you don't know what your doing. Pads! Pahh, Just get Ferrodo's!

In 2yrs of ownership i've spent 100£ on mine in repairs. 1 spring!

I'd shop around more. Theres no point in saying should have go a 2.0 because she had one and sold it.

Hope its worth it when its all sorted, i'm sure it will be.

Cambelt is not an "engine out" job. Not at all.

Dawn, you're getting cleaned out, at that price!!

Super car thrills super car bills;)

Love these threads esp the 911, M3, M5, Evo, Subaru & old supercars etc, these are just waiting to drop several £1000's of bills in your lap.

£500 on rear brake pads !!! They can be had for way less than that (like under £50) iirc the rear brakes come from some citroen (they are the front brakes on that)

I'd be off to a specialists tbh as the prices are extortionate.

Cheers for the input guys, im not regretting selling the 197! I had been told by my garage to ring ren uk so they can sort me a car (they have my car for a week and leave me with no car!) so i did and told them all (mostly ranting about the garage)

any how, renault were very helpful. Not only have ren offered to pay 80% of the oil cooler (£360) but also got me a new rental car delivered on my doorstep for free. So that makes it a little better.

once the oil cooler etc is done i will take her to another garage and get the two front tyres fitted along with sorting the tracking etc.

then come oct its hyd fluid change and mot.

I want her back, need to get her shiny for rws! ;)
