Over priced 172

  PB Clio 172
I was in Saltash the other day and I was looking at cars and I found a nice silver 172 in a trade garage, 100% standard which i like ok it was on 40k and mine is on 59k but it was wait for it

£3995

Am i mad thinking this is overpriced or what!

Yeah, not really surprised.

went to see a black 182 at a renault garage before i bought mine (just wanted a go in it really) was on 41K but they wanted £4995 for it, said they wouldn't drop a penny. Asked them a few questions and it was due a cambelt / aux kit and had no service history and had a few scuff / scrapes on it, on top of that the salesman was very rude to me. That was 3 months ago now.

Same one is for sale still but down to £4k now. Idiots.

They have dropped in value but still a lot of variation in price and quality !

Same with any car you will always get people saying its not worth that when you come to sell I can buy one for blah blah blah .
These are usually the people who see a mint car up for lets say 4000 full history needs nothing doing , Would rather pay 3000 for a car with several owners a bit shabby sketchy service history, Think they have a bargain! and by the time they finish doin bits to get it running and looking right probly owes them the same money as the good one.
If it does cost less you will never change the fact it has had a hard life with many owners and no history no matter how much you spend !
Minter for more cash EVERY TIME .
A Good genuine car will always be worth paying more BUT people just look at prices s**t ones sell for and assume thats all that ALL of them are worth .

Thank you sir :approve:

Well you are correct. The problem is that when looking at prices, everyone looks at the lowest common denominator i.e. the cheapest cars.
They are often cheap for a reason, 8 years old with about 6/7 owners, heavily modified etc. and therefore don't attract buyers.
I don't see why anyone would scoff at a nice original 182 in any colour with a well documented history and 2/3 owners from a "normal" seller for around £4-4.5K.
Bear in mind the way the industry is going, these will be the last circa 1 tonne, big engined hatchbacks with impeccable handling. The latest ltd edition Raider 200 has 18 inch wheels, enough said!
