Passat water leaks

  53 Clio's & counting
Some of you may have read me talking about this,

This is for Passat 1998-2005 all models

The problem that happens is the seal around the pollen filter perishes, the water then runs down past the pollen filter, and down the air ducts.

This then floods the passenger footwell.

The problem is the cars convenience control unit is mounted exactly there under the carpet.

The convenience control unit controls the cars alarm, central locking, hazard lights and indicators etc.

As you can imagine, water getting into this unit can cause you huge problems, and end up needing a new unit, and the wiring stripped back and replaced, depending how far back the water has progressed.

This is a picture of a convenience unit that has been sat in water so if you ever buy a Passat get this checked or be in for a £600 bill!!

  Never above 25mpg
My dad's Passat had this problem really badly actually. He was so thankful the car got written off due to some idiot in a Merc!

the central locking problem is intermittent, and is ok again at the moment. the interior lights are a bit hit and miss though. no problems with indicators etc as of yet
