Performance Down, Exhaust Volume Up

  Clio 172
Hey

So my exhaust is louder than it used to be and I've noticed a drop in acceleration? I was thinking maybe the warmer weather having an affect? Maybe ignition problems so excess fuel in exhaust? Maybe blowing exhaust?

Any input welcomed?

O, I'm running Decat GDi system, inlet matched, remap

Thanks

Tom

If its noticably slower, and noticably louder, i doubt it'd be time of year mate.

Have a look under the car with it running and see if you can see it blowing. Or take it to kwik fit, they'll put it up on the ramps and do an exhaust check for free.

Without sounding stupid, how do I "see" blowing? Sprinkle some flour under the car? :p

I could see the fumes and hear where it was coming from, was evident half of the noise wasnt coming from the back box.

Guess it wouldnt do you any harm to point a hose at your exhaust so its wet, and then you'd see the water bubbling if it was blowing...

Sounds like a job for tomorrow. I have a sneaky suspicion where it might be coming from - decat to manifold as we had trouble with those bolts getting on the back of them

Yes after my decat was fitted it was way too loud so had OE cat put back in with my ktec zorst.
But after that it sounded terrible really noisy at 4k rpm but you could tell it was coming from the cat/manifold flange.
Turns out one of the bolts had sheared off and was well loose so they replaced it and fixed it. (all done at GDI)
