Ph 1 172 auto lights - Can this b done?

Car  E39 530i
Y Reg ph1 172, i think i've got a setting on my stick which doesn't work, surprise surprise. Is there anyway of adding this to my car?

It can, yes. It depends on how. The OE system from a ph2 would be difficult but at the end of the day you only need a 12v photoelectric sensor concealed on the car somewhere. To say it can't be done is wrong.

The Phase2 wiring is complety different so nope but wiring in a DIY setup is quite easy infact very easy.

i thought giles did it? and it was just a case of attaching the wiring to a set of sensors and getting the windscreen replaced with gel pack...

You can pick up a light semsore from a DIY store for a few quid. Little bit of creative wiring and hey presto.
