PH1 172 cam belt and service advice

  Ph1 172
I've just brought, well picking up a ph1 172 on sunday. will be parked up at till the end of the month. so want to do a few things first.

Service, oils filters etc, what do people recommend? I used to own golf's and corrado's so have used gsf a lot, as i found there parts for the vw's up to sratch. is this the same with reno parts?

also i'm pretty handing with spanners etc so is changing the cam belt a massive job? require any 'special' tools?

Yep, GSF can supply all the parts needed for cam belt / aux kit / service.

Just make sure if you do it yourself you buy / borrow the genuine renault tools for doing the cambelt.

would this be a tool to lock the cam pulleys together on the head? or something more? do you know where you can get them?

cool thank for the heads up, looks like a big job, unlike on a mk2 golf only takes an hour or so lol

Do you know if there is a workshop manual available? from someone like Bentley? Hayes manual are not that in depth anymore?

About 8 - 10 hours work if you've never done one before. Ebay for the workshop manual, autodata is wrong as far as I can remember with regards to the timing belt procedure.
I have the specialist tools available for rent if you're local, where abouts are you?

This. Autodata's data for these engines is not exactly correct according to quite a few people.

I live just outside Portsmouth but I wouldn't mind paying for postage if it saves me buying the tool.

This fastchip website do you need to be in the trade or anything to register?
