Ph1 172 -> mk1 conversion 1 fuel line!??!?!?!

  Clio 16v 'YOJ'
Hey guys,

in the process of converting my valver to f4r and noticed the 172 only has 1 fuel line (green connector) and then it has a line that goes to a black box (inside the drivers wing under the headlight)

What do I use for fuel return. I was under the impression that ph1 172's had a feed and return line just like a valver did!?

Had a quick look in matteh's project and it doesnt mention fuel lines?

My donor car is an X reg 172

Any ideas people?

Cheers

Craig

What do I have here and what do I need to buy? Cheers for your help :)

Two options, get an early phase one rail which has a return and regulator.

Or use the rail you have and put a later fuel pump in the tank which has the regulator as part of the pump.

You have the latter 172 Ph1 fuel rail.

As above you ideally need to modify the valver pump housing and fit a 172 pump with a reg on it (so you can use single line). 172 pump housing does not fit in valver tank, you have to take the pump away from the housing and put it in the valver housing (it does fit with some thought, I did it). Easier option just source an early 172 Ph1 rail which has feed and return (inc reg) and itl plumb straight upto your valver lines.

Thanks for the replies guys.

F0xy so if I take the 172 pump and put it in the valver housing that will physically fit in the tank, will the wiring and pipes all match up perfectly or is it a case of cutting and splicing wires as well?

Don't suppose you guys have the part numbers for the fpr rail and stuff?

Cheers

Il have a look later, im sure I got a couple of pics. I had issues with fuel surge on track round certain corners (thats all it was used for), so I went for a 'newer' pump, one from a 172 ph1. The physical pipes fit, but you'l have to solder the wires like the Mk1 is, its all obvious when you've got it out of the tank. Turns out the 172 one was even worse so ended up staying with a Mk1 pump and just keeping it above 1/3 of a tank.

To be honest your easiest route is to find someone breaking a 172 ph1 on here and buy the fuel rail from them with the FPR in it, then just use your injectors etc
