Phase 1 engine in phase 2 clio

Basicly buying a new engine for my 172 as mines nakerd but its come from a phase 1 2001 plate and mines a 02 plate wwill the engine fit my car still? Been told i may need to use the phase 1 wiring loom as sensors on engine may be diff but be told my ecu will be fine any help will be great thanks

Ok thanks! Just out of interest whats diff about inlet manifolds? Ill have to use mine anyway as new one dont come with inlet manifold

Yes he will (he said he didnt have one anyway) phase 1 inlet has a space for idle speed control valve

As Jay has said, the ph2 manifolds do not have the hole in for the idle control valve to bolt in to. Using the ph1 inlet on a ph2 engine will be fine.


Course, remember the ph1 has the better cylinder head ;)

Russ uve got it wrong lol im guna be using a phase 2 inlet manifold on the phase 1 engine not the phase 1 inlet on the phase 2 engine lol

Ah sorry mate, my mistake - the opposite way round then lol, your ph2 inlet and tb on the ph1 engine will work fine ,and the ph1 has a better cylinder head lol
