plastic door strips on cup

Just posted this in the pics section by mistake, reposting here.

Currently using AutoGlym Super Resin polish which leaves a really nice finish after polishing, except on the plastic door strips. Cant get the plastic strips to have a shine finish after polishing, always comes up with a mat finish :(

Anyone else having / had this problem with the door strips on a cup? and if so which polish will bring out a nice shine on the plastic?

cheers

I use Cockpit shine (spray). Wipe it on after cleaning (no polish) comes up looking pretty good. The one I use is the clear silicon oil type.

The door strips are meant to be a matt finish mate, its different paint!

Get them painted & lacquered to match the bodywork if you really want...

I mistakingly polished them and now have weird polishing marks in them. Fact is you can clean them using normal car shampoo, but you *cannot polish un-lacquered bodywork.

*Well you can, but it looks stupid.

I assumed the Cup side strips are the same as the dynamics one.

If so mix 1/8 linsead oil and 7/8 white spirits together and wipe the plastic clean with it. It takes a few coating to sometimes get it completely black again but it works at removing polisy or just to restore the original colour.

No, they aint just plain plastic like on some Clios mate, they are still colour coded to match the car, but its a matt finish paint similar to whats used on the interior colour coding...

Was the 172 the only one to come with laquered side strips ?
Possibly?!

Only the mk2s as well, as the mk1s are black plastic...
