Plate lights on mk3 1.4 Dynamique 2006

Hi All,
I have a mk3 1.4 Dynamique 2006 model. Came to changing one of the licence plate bulbs and made the most ridiculous mistake. I took off the holder for the bulb and I did not yet have the bulb purchased to change it so I popped the wire and small bit of plastic back into the hole... however somehow I pushed it in too far and now it’s completley disappeared.
I appreciate this was a ridiculous mistake to make and I already feel very stupid about it!!
Is there any way of retrieving the wire without taking the rear bumper off?

Not sure whether you can take off the plastic trim inside the boot to get into the bumper from there?

No unfortunately not, I tried that yesterday.
