Right I've made up a rough wiring diagram on paint and first real one I've done so keep that in mind.

I would ask yall to have alook at it and see if you can work out what its meant to do. I'll put the answer bellow so no peaking lol, like a test for me and you

Much appreciated

Idea is to have a thermostat to switch a fan on, this can also be bypassed by a switch on the dash, when the relay for the fan is switched a light also comes on on the dash?

yeah except the fan dosnt work like that its ecu controlled so instead of going through the fan switch (themostat as you are calling it) you'd need to tap it in to the output of the fan relay

if that thing in the middle is a relay it should be drawn like so: much easier to read. (odviously the contact is normally open - N/O)

I assume you are going to wire it as above. This does not use the ECU as drawn

and why?? overcooling is as bad as overheating

why not fit a decent aftermarket temp gauge if you are worried, as long as its cutting in and out and maintaining optimum temperature then no worries

Its going on my new track car to replace the mechanical fan not the clio

(thanks for the diagram Mark)

If you fit a themrocouple (temp probe) into the coolant system and then have a gauge on your dash you can read the temp anyway. switch on/ off as please but surely it be easier to use the thermostat?

I'm buying the thermostat and the fan as a kit, I'm (obviously) adding the dash switch and the light for my own learning and experience plus got the idea while sat in the pits etc I may decide i wana switch the fan etc.

Just wana know if it looks like it will work because i havent done it before :)
