Right oh, My bat light kept coming on last month so I put a new alternator on. Sorted.Just been in my car, started up, and it was on again! Rev'd it up to 4k and it went off and hasn't come back on again.I have a amp and sub etc with no power cap. I do have a power cap, would it be worth attaching? Its only a 800w amp and it only comes on from ignition. Think this is the problem?Cheers

The light has gone off again you see. When its on the charge rate is low. But then I rev it to 4k and the light goes off and then the charge is fine

Iwould say there is something failing in the alternater set up! if it isnt charging when the lights on! take it the belts tight, all the connections are good?

so far as I know. Doesn't explain when I rev it up it goes off and stays off. Only comes on when I first start the car.

how about a new battery? Reckon that would make a difference?

Could be dodgy connector somewhere, so it takes the higher output to overcome this poor connection. Check all connections, as well as the connector thats monitoring the voltage output from the alternator

I'd test your battery. Followed by cleaning all your battery terminals and main earth, aswell as all your operating wire and feed from your alternator.

I've fit a new alternator before now, but because the battery wasn't getting charged with the gammy alternator, it knackered the battery. 10 seconds after starting it, battery light back on, trip to halfords with the trade car, 4 year battery warrenty, sorted.

Edit - did you make sure you've tightened the battery terminals back up when you did the alternator. If your batterys good - check your belts not too loose.
