Please help with identifying container under O'side front wing

I'm in the process of rebuilding my Clio 182 for hillclimbing this year (if I ever get it finished).

On removing the front wheel arch liner on the dirvers sidei found a container. (see piccie) Looks like part of the fule return system to the tank but the pipe I assume which was connected to the engine is not and is blanked off. The other pipe runs to the back of the car. There are also two wires leading the from the cap on the top the container.
Car runs fine, great in fact, so do I really need this so can it consign it to the large bin of parts I have been able to remove?

P.S. the call will be road legal and therefore needs to pass an MOT.

It's the carbon canister. Technically required for a mot but I wouldn't worry about it.
Loads of folk remove them for brake ducting routing.

Thanks for the response, consigned the bin and another bit of weight saved.

Ahhh weight saving. A fave topic on here. My advice is go nuts;
Gut all the internals out; strip the tar with dry ice, etc etc then build it up. It’s all been done many many times on here.

Wich resistor was needed to fit this so it wont these a CEL ?
