Poor radio reception since aftermarket HU fitted ..

Last weekend I got a Alpine IDA-X100 fitted into the 182. Ever since then, the radio reception has been shocking!

The standard 182 headunit wasn't all that ... but this is really bad. On my way into work, I knew exactly where and when the radio station would cut out - but now it's way before that, and randomly too!

I got it fitted by a reputable audio specialist so I doubt they would of missed something. Do after-market headunit's generally have a rubbish radio signal?

What can I do to either fix the problem / or boost the reception??!

Cheers

the fm signal on the unit has a low and hi gain setting, any difference with either?
Some cars especially vauxhall the aerial end which plugs into the radio can become brittle hence the signal becoming poor,id take a look at that to see if there are any breaks

i had a brand new Alpine in mine briefly and swapped it back for the std head unit, partly because it didn't seem to have as good a tuner
