Lol, it was a good save to be fair considering the speed involved (I dont mind sliding around at 50mph but that was at 100mph) but the difference is that Tiff Needle could do that all day without breaking a sweat, where if it kept happening to me Im sure within a few goes my luck would run out.
Was fun when it was happening at the first chicane (the bit just before lee overtakes me at the end of the video) as that was at such low speeds there was nothing that could really go wrong so was happily doing that every lap, 30mph sliding about sits better in the comfort zone for my (lack of) talent!

Here is what would have happened if I had a bit less luck, a competent driver in a good spec escort cossie had exactly the same "moment" on the same corner that I did, but without as much luck catching it as I had.

As far as I can see the same happened to him as me, the car broke away as he went over folly, but he just didnt quite catch it quick enough.

Its called "folly" for a reason that bend!

In most n/a cars you can't go fast enough there to have a problem really even in the wet, it's only a very slight corner. In my mk1 it's totally flat there whatever the weather as its just not fast enough to do anything interesting there.

Thanks mate, that escort cosworth really puts in perspective how dangerous it could have been if I hadn't caught it.
Im going to need to learn to respect my turbo clio a lot more than the other couple of clios I drive on track just cause the speeds pile on so much easier.

The back braking away probably wasnt directly caused by only the rack play but I'm sure that exaggerated it.
Cossie was going quicker there than me for sure as the camera car he overtook was my mates 300bhp 205 and that cossie left it for dead.

I expect the cossie was at 130 ish and me barely over 100.

Maybe if he was on full wets like he sometimes is, otherwise he'd just be struggling from wheelspin I guess.

Either way, big accident for the escos, and lucky escape from me, does show how dangerous a hobby we actually have!

I reckon in the dry my turbo will be doing 120ish at folly, im sure Spikey will be 130 or more.

Proper car with a proper driver, although lee's statement about "budget build" is relative I guess, as I think he is well past 10K now, in fact possibly even closer to 15K with it which to a lot of people would seem a lot for a 205.

Well ive certainly spent as much on cars without them being as epic, so spikey has done well with it.

205 was a good starting point actually, reasonable gearbox, not silly price for a diff, good engines available and they handle well.
Arguably better than a clio just cause of the box situation.
