"Possible" Stupid Oil Change Question

Right Chaps,

The fine guide someone posted on oil changes said jack the front end up on axel stands to make it easier to get at the sump plug

Is it not better to drain the oil with the car on the flat, so as to ensure the sump is fully drained, or is the sump plug at the back of the sump, so hence doesn't matter if the car front is jacked up.

evertime i have changed the oil ive jacked it up from the passenger side and drained it that way...never had any probs
