Pot hole damage with pics

i was out the other nite about 10.30 on my way home through kingston town center wen i hit this hole that the road works did not cover up and it gave me a flat i coulndt change the wheel as i had my alloys on i didnt have the correct size wheel brace or wheel bolts so i had to pay 80 pound to get revcovered 4 miles and 60 for a new tyre not sure if the wheels busted or not will be getting it back later here some pics

Ouch! Get sum pics of the hole in the daylight if you can, with something to measure depth then get back onto the council.

unfortunately, most cases for council claims take months and are very rarely successful.

this was right outside there offices so ill be down there tommorow morning got two witness statements aswell i was only doin 20mph tryed swurving to miss it and its one big one across the road i would take day light pics but i think its proberly been filled by now nearly caused a 7 car pile up because every one was hitten the brakes

Mate thats unlucky, but like what the others have said, some pictures of the hole in daylight and something to measure the depth and try contacting the council, see if they will pay out for the damage!

My brother hit a pothole and bent an alloy. We sent them a letter with pics showing the size and depth of the hole, and they sent a letter asking to let them know how much a wheel cost, and a cheque arrived soon after.

The whole process took about 2 weeks.

unfortunately, most cases for council claims take months and are very rarely successful.

^ ^ I've tried a claim - took good pics, checked spec on Department for Transport website, took months and then the cheeky bas*ards claimed the dropped kerb (cross-over) was within tolerance - twice as high as DfT recommendations.

Also only pay against receipts and knock off VAT and depreciation - in other words you might get £40 in 4 months!

my bro and my gf had the same a few years ago...both successfully got money back...

sorry to see mikey...it's a right b**ch...happened to me in my Punto GT...totally ruined the wheel but the next day the friggin hole was filled in so I couldn't do anything about it!

ill be down the council first thing and sorting this out takes the piss alll they had to do is leave a metal sheet over the holes and its on a very busy road they need there heads bangin togther

Sheeeeet, sorry to see that Mikey.
I have to say the roads are absolutely appalling at the moment....i think i might keep my 172 slave wheels on until March is done with.
Got 2 of my turini's away for refurb at the moment. God knows i'd be livid if the same thing happened to me!

Hope you havent got a ruined wheel there matey.

not read the full thread but here goes,

i fucked an oz alloy couple of years ago, took pics of wheel road etc.
got on to the council lawyers etc.
i was told that cause i never reported the defective road how were they to know it was a danger so therefore they were not at fault.
was well raging but sold the car for the 182, so never pursued it further.

i hope you can get sorted but they always seem to squirm out from my experience and from what i hear on other forums,.

however i have heard of folk gettting a full new set due to incidents like this so maybe you'll be a winner.

yup i had a space wheel but becuase of my momo alloys the wheels bolts are different and woulndt hold the standard alloy on so i was bugger

GOOD news tho the wheel isnt buckled and the only damage was flattend bit of the lip very minor but im still gonna try for a new wheel and i didnt even pay for these wheels because the company i bought them from never charged me woho
