Powerflex Dog Bone Bushes Question

Is it just the wishbone bush kit which needs some welding done? Or do you need to for this engine dog bone mount kit too?

I was going to attempt the dog bone one myself. But won't bother if it needs some welding??

Might sound silly but do you need to hold the engine up or support it when un-doing this lower engine mount?

Never really done anything like this myself before so thought I would get some advice and double check before f**king something up.

Cheers

You dont need to hold the engine.
Getting the old bush out is a bit of a pain if you dont know what you are doing, I find a hammer and blunt chisel the best option, if you fold the old bush in on itself it comes out quite easily.

They control movement very well when new, but they do go oval eventually, so depending on the mileage you do and how hard you drive, budget for replacing it every couple of years, its a piece of cake to do the second time though as no standard bush to remove anymore of course.

Thanks :)

I haven't even had a proper look at the standard part and compared to the new bits yet. But is there a specific way round you need to make sure you put the new bushes? Or is it logical or will it only fit in one way.

Make sure you've got a vice that opens wide otherwise you'll have to improvise. Thats the only difficult bit of the job

Yes to press the old bush out, I used a big socket to cover the bush and then pressed it out - its nice easy way of winding it out without too much effort

Sorry to bump this but what's the difference between the normal dog bone engine mount bush kit and the 'twisted' dog bone engine mount bush kit??

All Ph 1 I believe used the standard straight dog bone mount and most (all?) Ph 2's were the twisted design. Have to make sure you get the right kit as the bushes are quite different.
