Problem replacing Rear Hub Bearings

  Clio 1.2
hi, just tried to replace the hub bearing on my 2001 Clio 1.2

Haynes led me to believe thati could push it out but there is a ring (which I assume is where the hand brake locks into) covering the bearing making it hard to push the whole bearing out. I gave it a bash and the bearing has come out, BUT left the outer race in place!

does anyone know what i should do next???

think i may be in a bit of hot water here!!!

Thx!

handbrake works on the brake shoes

have you taken the circlip that holds the outer race out??

you can bash it out,, but you cant really bash the new one in as you need to hit it on the outer race

needs pressing really

if you are on about the abs ring,, that dosnt need to be touched,, it dosnt get in the way of the bearing

HI thanks for your reply

Circlip was out 1st off.

See the pic below, its called the "reluctor ring" in the Haynes manual which I looked up and I'm sure most know is the ABS (maybe)

But the ring sits over the outer race of the bearing so I have nothing to push against.

Can I remove and replace the ring?

Hopefully this helps, but i'm thinking its a trip to the garage tomorrow and a day off work!

Cheers!

  Lots of Alfas
Take the rear drum to a local garage and get them to press the old bit out and press the new one in. The handbrake wont get in the way at all. The abs rotor is on the inside of the drum but wont get in the way at all.
