problems with newsgroup downloads...

Hey, ive been using newsgroups for a while now, and im starting to get fed up im not sure if its the program i use, at the mo im using newsbin, i used to use newsleecher but stopped when it started getting that error that everyone was getting a few months ago.

Anyway some downloads dont even download the kb speed stays at 0kbps and the download just looks like its being downloaded super quick, but it doesnt do anything, any ideas?

On other files some download but dont download fully then the prog moves on to the next leaving it in the window but when i click retry it trys to download the rest normally like half a meg to download fully but cannot get the rest, any ideas with this as well?

btw im using newshosting as my host and newsbin pro 5.01 build 5807

update.... just sorted the second problem, i right clicked the files that hadnt fully downloaded and clicked 'assemble incompletes' and it added the file to the download folder than i repaired it using the pars, sweet!

Still dont understand why some files dont download at all?

perhaps they have been removed from the server but the header has been left there?

but that is just a pure guess lol

ditch your current NNTP provider and go to easynews! Forget all this newsreader rubbish

whats wrong with newshosting im on? the unlimited downloads cost about 8 quid i think. Do the providers make a difference when downloading then? Also does the download prog make a difference? thinking about trying newsleecher again

The thing that always got me was the program (newsbin in particular) is so excessively greedy!

I'm just saying with easynews, you search for the file you want, add them to a large zip file, and download it with a download manager. most of the unrarring and whatnot is already done for you on videos.

Just making life easy.. oh and they have a great retention.. 40days!

Well im only on 1 meg connection, and probably wont be upgraded in my area for a long time, so is it worth changing news servers when i normally max out my downloads at around 120kb's.

Oh and griff what download prog do you use?
